I wanted to share my 04 Cobra with 17x9 and 17x10 XXR wheels and Toyo R888R tires. Wheels fit excellent and have plenty of clearance. Rears are 315 with a slight bulge. Honestly I have always liked the old muscle car look and while not ideal, car looks great and tires grip like crazy. I’m lowered on H&R race springs with only lower isolator.

Looks great! How are you liking the tires so far? Do they hook up well in first? I make about 460/480 to the wheels and want something to keep me in a straight line better than my 555's do. Also, have you driven them in wet weather?

Sonic, i am at 450/490 at the wheels. The tires hook very well with a little heat in them. Before I would spin in first to second shift and now it just goes. Obviously first gear still needs to be done carefully. No rain in so cal so I wouldn’t Be able to tell you how they do in the rain.

I'm running 305/35 18 R888R's on my 691/645 rwhp monster and when they're warm the only gear I have serious problems with is 1st. I can generally drop the hammer in 2nd and be good with very little wheel spin. When I drop the boost to 15lb and only make 614/545 I have no problem in any gear. Hope this helps

702whp 690wtq on a vmp at 22lb. Running my first set of R888 after burning up a set of TQs. The R888s dead hooked 2nd. See how they hold up on the long term.

Dig the wheels love the dish out back.

Sorry to bump an old thread but what is the offset of your xxrs? I'm looking at a 18x9/10.5 set with a +20mm offset and I'm being told I need to roll fenders, stretch tires, and add camber like I'm a damn ricer or something. Lol. Just wondering. Will run a 295 on the rear for now but eventually a 305 probably. Car is lowered but I don't know with what springs, was lowered when I bought it. Thanks.

Hi. My wheels are +20mm offset. My backspacing is 6.29 if that helps. I’m running 315 rear Toyo that clear with no fender rolling. I’m lowered on H&R race springs. Camber is set to factory so I don’t have the stupid ricer camber.

Sweet, thanks for the reply. I've checked with 3 companies on these wheels and this guy was the first to say this crap. I appreciate it. I'm going with the 968s in flat black on a Redfire. Should look awesome.

Post some pics up once your done. Should look very clean. I previously had 295 on 18x10 wheel and they cleared by a mile. I did got with the low profile IRS bolt just for extra insurance.

Yea I have 295 now with a spacer and no issues. I'm doing IRS upgrades right now so it's getting the low profile bolts when it goes back in. Ordered wheels last night, will post pics when she's back together if I don't forget.
