Here's some news on the 2012/2013 Mustang Boss.

http://www.mustangheaven.com/2010/2012-mustang-boss-302-production-numbers-leaked-via-borders-online-bookstore/#more-2892

In the description it says the Mustang Boss 302 model will be built for two years (2012 & 2013) with 4,000 models produced each year. Of the 4,000 Mustang Boss 302 models 3,500 will be street cars and 500 will be ”R” race cars ( Laguna Seca edition). If this is true Ford is limiting production to just 8,000 Boss Mustang 302 models for 2012 and 2013.

If they keep the base price in the 35k range, they could easily sell double that without thinking twice. And, it'd still be a 'relative' rarity on the road.

Either way

This is based on old information. Reference the Laguna Seca Edition as an "R" car. It appears the initial plan was the call the LS a Boss 302R like the Cobra R. They changed that plan and attached the Boss 302R name to the FR500C and which forced them to create the new name, Laguna Seca Edition.

There has been plenty of time for the market to change their production plans. I would read nothing into this report.
