For me the order goes:

1. Jlt, 2.59 pulley and a tune. This adds +100 whp
2. Gears I like my 4:10 they make the power fun
3. Lethal off road X cheap and fixes the sound (adds a few ponys)
4. Tires that can handle the power
5. Control arms to fix hop
6. H/E to give you the power all the time.

What about the 5.4L Performance Intercooler? Does it make a difference? I would imagine this plus a good H/E would reduce IATs by quite a bit, no?

2 CAI
3 Offroad H or X
4 heat exchanger
5 TVS and tune

good for low elevens in the heat.

Still using stock shifter with good results. Coming from an 04 cobra the factory shifter is much improved.

Hood struts are a must to get rid of that prop rod. Redline Tuning just introduced a nice looking bolt-on (no-drill) set.

I would think that better flow (less resistance) would be a good thing, if nothing else.

Picking up a 2009 GT500 convertible, triple black, 13K miles, stock, as a father/son project. We want to start putting together a list of the most common and popular mods.

Start with the small things that people change to make the car better and maybe work our way up to a 2103 TVS swap.

Maybe lower the car and improve handling?

CAI? Exhaust system?

Should we improve shifter?

Let us know what improvements you made that were well worth it and what changes you made that you wish you hadn't - hoping to learn from experience!

These are nice in that you don't have to unbolt the hood hinges to install. Initial version had an issue with rubbing on the strut towers. I understand that has since been resolved with some new hardware.

Research the clutch/flywheel TSB and if you have not done it,
Get it done before warranty is out. If its out get it done anyways. Almost ALL made before 10 eventually need it and if left unchecked can damage the syncros in the
tranny. Read the 4th revision of the TSB for symptoms.
Just look up Ford Gt500 clutch/flywheel TSB 4th revision.

Friendly advise to keep you from what can add up to
COSTLY repairs!

Just closed a deal on a 2009 GT500, it is a late Dec 2008 build and has the updated clutch assembly. It also came with an extended Warranty to 2014 or 2015. Once I get the car, I will be starting to put a mod plan together.

Unless they did the TSB and replaced the assembly, it
DOES NOT have the updated assembely.
2008 build=old assembly!
BTW they revised the TSB AGAIN in 2010 and
are now using 2010 GT500 assemblies because ppl
were still having problems.
You need to find out if the TSB was done and WHEN
it was done.

Wow, that is quite a list, how many of these have you completed on your '09?

You SHOULD be ok then IF you in fact do have the new flywheel.

But if you have problems dont hesitate to use the TSB at the dealer.
Again I am not sure why they revised it AGAIN to use 2010 clutch and flywheel and just what caused problems on some vehicles even after the 09 switch but there are a good number out there.

I wouldn't be really concerned but you might double check just to make sure... remember the date is 8-19 so if you are even a day earlier you have the old one.
I'd even check to see which flywheel was in there physically when you get the oil changed just as that thread states.
and again don't hesitate to use the TSB if needed.
