So far I've spent 12 hours in an attempt to mate my new MT82 to my engine and the closest I seem to be able to get it is within about an inch.

I'm unable to get the dowels in the block into their respective holes on the bellhousing.

I know that I'm getting the input shaft mated to the pilot bearing because when I remove the transmission, the yellow grease from the pilot is on the end of it.

No amount of wiggling and shaking seems to get it the rest of the way on.

What's the magic ingredient here that I'm missing?

There are input shafts with different spline counts.....perhaps??
It definitely matches the clutch because otherwise it would never engage the pilot bearing and the splines on the clutch.

I got a bore scope today and I'm going to look and see if anything is touching.
