hope it isnt anything too serious.

i went to take my air filter off to clean it and noticed oil around the inside of it. so i took the rest of the intake off and it had oil in it, and i opened the throttle by the throttle cable and it had oil sitting there, the throttle was actually holding it there. car runs fine and everything.

only thing i could think of is that i changed my supercharger oil recently. is it possible that its from the blower? i didnt overfill it. and my motor oil is actually near the low mark, so i know it isnt overfilled.

If the PCV breather hose goes into the inlet, you will get some residue. Another factoer is aggressive oil filter oiling. You can use the prefilters on both sides.

My tuner said applying breathers after a tune will effect it. I wouldn't get them unless you retune it. I'm sure it won't effect it that bad but thats what my tuner said. Why don't you try an oil separator?

and eventually you'll get oil all over your engine bay.

Been this way for 1-2 years. Already made prob 20 track passes this year.

They will mist some oil but not to the level you make it out to be.

I would rather mist some oil than to ingest it into my engine which leads to detonation.

Here's something I do and it works perfect for the intake side and it's cheap.. Go to the hardware store and get a sprinkler head filter and put it in on the intake side of the tube (skinny end first) and push it in until it hits the bend in the tube. I have a JLT one on the driver side but liked the stock look on the passenger side and this works great to keep the oil out of the intake.. I ran it for years without issues..

Is there any way to clean the intercooler without removing the supercharger? I have a jlt catch can on the driver's side after the pcv but I think a bit of oil got sucked up before i installed it. I was redoing the pcv lines and when i unplugged it from behind the blower, i noticed a good bit of oil coming out of the tube.
I know the guys who spray meth before the blower get the benefit of a cleaned intercooler. I'm paranoid about how much oil is on the intercooler now and would like to clean it preferably without removing it from the car.

the intake is fine with a jlt pre filter on the passenger side valve cover.

I have the JLT pre on the pass side and recently noticed oil in the TB and SC plenium. From what I understand that's relatively normal. The oil passes from pass to drivers side then upper to lower manifold. I don't know why it was not cycling down to the lower, but I suspected a vac leak in the PCV system so I removed the large plastic tube and T and re-did with a new 3/8 T and 3/8 hose.

I have the same concern as you that my I/C is covered in oil. I am guessing there is no "easy" way to go about it and removal of the SC is required. I just don't have the energy right now to tackle this after spending a week straight after work in the garage until 12,1,2,3 a.m. hunting down this vac leak :bash:

Good question though..I even wondered if you could use a oil drain pump as mine has a very skinny tube at the end. I used this to drain my sc oil...

Did you just shove the filter down into the middle of the hose? That way you could still attach the hose back onto the nipple? if not the filter looks like it would be in the way of getting the hose back on.

Ya it goes down far enough to put the hose back on without any issue.
With the jlt one on the drivers side and this one on the passenger side I had zero oil in the blower or lower intake when the blower was removed a few weeks ago so with both it seems to be working pretty good.

I have the jlt prefilter on pass side plumbed into rai and still see a little oil on the floor of the blower inlet. I dont think that mesh screen really stops much oil from passing it. it still just pulls oil and air thru it. Im thinking of plugging up the rai fitting and running breathers . Oil getting sucked into the chambers is about the worst thing possible for a boosted motor. But with breathers your not getting that ring seal from the vacume draw so its a toss up. I alway ran a vac pump with a catch can on my race car and it made 30hp+ more on a engine dyno with it. But that would be hard to fit onto these cars. They do make electric vac pumps that could be a option into a catch can it would increase hp/ring seal and keep all the oil from being fed back into the chamber.
