guys this is sad....but this damn 01 F150 fuel filter has me cursing ...spent 2 separate days trying to swap it out. Using the metal "special tool". The rear comes out pretty easy. The front side will NOT release from the filter. I believe the "teeth" inside are stuck. I have soaked the inside with lube. Is there a better way of releasing the line from the filter? Maybe a different tool works better ??? The tool I am using is the X looking metal tool.

X-tool sucks get the little anodized aluminum one. Harbor freight has the set cheap. Push the filter in, then the tool in, keep pushing in on the tool while pulling the filter out. the pull the filter out. If you try to pull the filter while pushing the tool in it jams up. push it further in first. The aluminum ones just pop of the line and slide smooth without you have to squeeze them closed. Honestly the little plastic rings aren't bad either.

sweet bro ...I'll try those !
Dude, I got the Matco master set you can borrow. They are a big pain that the Big 3 loved for ease of assembly. But maintenance is.... tough once they get old and crap in em.

I'll bring the set home tomorrow and you can borrow it unless you get it free by then.

The tool and turning the filter "finally" did the trick.

Harbor Frt tools FTW

The land of commies and socialists!
Doing a fuel filter on a 99 and up Cobra is pretty bad, there is absolutely no room to work.

Its borderline impossible without a lift. Anytime I do something to the IRS that will allow me a shred of additional access I change it. I don’t understand why ford didn't relocate it on the new edge cars since they new years in advance the IRS was being installed.
