This weekend I'll be detailing my new vehicle. I got some new pads in last night (not to mention the first thing a few people said when they saw my car was "holy swirls") so I was itching to get ahead so I can squeeze a couple vehicles into the same day. I decided to do my fenders this morning. Meguiars over the counter compound/polishes did very well. Not to mention they were only $10 each.

I did 4 "steps."

1 - Yellow pad and Meguiars Ultimate Compound - 4 passes
2 - Orange pad and Meguiars Ultimate Compound - 3 passes
3 - White pad and Meguiars Ultimate Polish - 5 passes
4 - Black pad and Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax. No sealant this time.

Needless to say, I'm excited to get the rest of the car done.

Yeah, for the non-professional (which is pretty much 99% of us), their OTC line of products really do work great. I've used their 'Ultimate' series of paint correction products for quite a while and have always gotten good results.

More pictures from today! Rear quarters and trunk are done. All that's left is the front bumper and doors.

Before: It was bad

A great Detailer once told me to keep it simple. Use what you know and like. If you do your car will look great! I really like the Meguairs products and have no issue with them. Loos good OP!

Who makes the pads you used.

+1

The colors dont mean anything to us if you dont mention the Mnf and type.

Generally speaking, you do not need to switch pads while keeping the same compound...Doesnt hurt, but just an extra (not needed) step. Im sure if you had kept the same pad and just made 5-6 section passes with the same pad/compound in step one, the results would be the same.

What machine did you use (unless I missed it)?

Nice Job!
