nah 2000hp air to air :) I likely won't ever go a/w.. To much weight and dealing with ice doesn't sound like fun
Same here for now. My kit has a 6” Garrett core.
Both can work but A/A and Nitrous sounds like a better play for my goals.
Will you be at Mod Nats this year?

Yea I bought a shearer fab 2000hp a/a. ahahaha yea we're on the same page with N20.

Yessir that's the plan. I'll be running in blower pro this year. I have Drew at AED coming out too so it's gonna be good to have my builder, tuner, suspension guru there

Can't wait to see the results with the changes!
Thanks man me too.

So trans is in. But the alignment was way off of the blower apparently as the belt jumped immediately. Sucks. But we’re getting closer

Finally got a freaking win today. The amount of work that’s gone into this thing since may is unreal. So many ups and downs. Let’s see if I can do a rundown.
Fixed broken trans
Fixed broken relay
Installed ten rib crank pulley
Blower bracket on and off 20+ times.
Finding the right belt size
Wrong parts shipped x6
Custom ac delete pulley(a win with asp pulley)
Fixed coolant leak
Flushed transmission cooler
Converter gone through again
Installation of trans etc.
4 stripped timing cover threads needing inserts.
Coolant tank didn’t work. Built a custom coolant tank then a revision
Redo coolant lines and fittings
Custom tensioner built
Repaint front bumper
Racecar life isn’t easy. But when I put this car on the 2step in the garage it made it worth it.
Excuse the language in the vid but man the relief that it’s working correctly is so nice.
@shearerfab 2000hp air to air cooler comes in Monday and I’ll get that mounted.
Huge thanks to @aedracingidaho for being in the garage with me and keeping me sane
And Tommy brewer as always for lending me a helping hand. And @bro_hemoth for helping me with r and r of the trans as well.
Probably missing more. But @modnationals_racing_event is coming up nov 11th and I think we might actually be ready.

That's pretty much the update. belt alignment is perfect now. 2step works in 1st and 2nd gear. Tomorrow the 2000hp i/c comes in and I'll mount that sucker. Try to get the vid uploaded here soon for you guys.

Damn!! that thing is huge!! just curious were you having I.A.T. issues?
So last year at mods I was up in the 160 range in the 1/4mi. So it was pulling timing. But other than that it was fine. Figured since I’m shooting for serious power and my tuner builder is coming out to mods this year id upgrade and give myself the best chance of winning something. Shouldn’t have any issues now with this sucker.

Not exactly for what I hoped for. But we’ll start with the bad.

Car has massive spark blow out and needs weapon x coils or smart coils. Axle seal is leaking for some dumb reason. Short shifting the car made the converter not happy and further exaggerate the spark issue. 2nd gear leave is awesome but had no real way to dial in rpm for more power due to spark issue.

The good. Somehow I got a new pb in mph with a 132. The car is holding 28psi like a champ other than the spark issue due to so much boost. The 1 pass I made pretty much was breaking up the entire way down. Ricer math tells me I’ll have a decent car here shortly.

The new air to air is working awesome, and the belt is holding this combo perfectly. I didn’t think it would hold 28psi but I’m glad it is.

New coils on the way and might mess with custom ignition settings to get more dwell in it too.

I'll add some pics when I get home.

Were you on a Holley? My car 1000% didn't like .014. I have new OEM cops. I mean if I can get away with weapon X coilpacks for mods that would be great. But I'm probably ordering smart coils today. I just need to get the time to make some phone calls

Should add we had a turbo'd 04 going 4.60's with 32psi on a 88mm and weapon X coils and a fast XFI/XIM

Have you looked into the d858 ls2 coils over an aftermarket "smart" coil. Would allow for a clean in head install to avoid any more wires in your engine bay.

No I haven't but I'll look into it. Idk if the connection etc is the same or not for the holley

I agree that is a very clean setup. Usually when I see smart coil setups on the 4v's it is geared more towards function than form. For reference I have the d858 coils in mine with modified stock cop covers.

The d585 coil was in a few gm applications, mostly truck, but is a super stout coil with dwell control and produces 40,000+ volts. Just have to watch that you don't dwell them over ~4.5 ms because they will auto discharge to save themselves. I don't think they are better than the ign1-a or other variant coils but for me the packaging and performance for my setup were hard to beat. I also picked up two full sets from the junkyard for less than $100 which didn't hurt.

Nice man! I ordered a smart coil setup yesterday. Redline-Motorsports coils. Jolt systems harness and fire core wires. The jolt harness is plug and play which is really nice. Don’t have to buy a new main harness or anything.
