Hey so my buddy called me and asked me to go to the track at like 8 and it closes at 11....takes roughly 45 mins to get there plus the time we soent getting food and getting lost....Short story go there at about 9:50 10:00 and didnt do my first run until about 10:15 and got 3 runs in, in total.

Didnt have a chance to get my tires deflated...running them at 33psi, they are 275/40/17 BFG KDW's....all i did was spin in 1st and second, thats of course saying i let the car get going before i matted it.

Any advice to help me get a 12.5 on sunday? It should be around there.

Thanks guys

Your gonna have to ride the clutch out a little from the start with those street tires, then roll into it in 2nd, then shift like hell to get a 12.5... you really need some DR's or slicks, especially with an upper, intake, exhaust combo...try letting the tire pressure to about 20 or so... should help a little...GL

watch the lights on the tree, and when it gets to the last yellow light go. also since you're on streets, probably rev only to about 1000 or 1500 rpms. best 60' you'll see on streets probably be 2.1's or 2.0's if you're really good (also depends on track surface).

also keep your shifts about 5600 - 5800 rpms, no need to wrap it all the way out to 6000+ or anything.

that should help cut some time off.

My first run ever was a 12.4 @ 113 MPH. After that traction just kept getting worse and worse for me until it got almost non-existant. The run I wrecked on I ran a 3.250 60 and lost control at the 1000 ft mark, but still crossed the finish line at 15.147 @ 100.37 MPH. It was the worst run ever recorded by man from start to finish.

I was running on Pirelli PZero Rosso's BTW.

LOL, I plan on going to the track tomorrow. I'm sure I will do pretty shitty as well since I've never taken my Cobra to the track.

I won't be surprised if I run a high 12 or even low 13 my first try.

stop spinning all of first. get a 2.0 60ft and peddle it off the line. I used some BFGs DRs and they helped out a lot.

what was your trap speed.. unless you can get traction, your e/t is going to SUCK.. (I had the same problem at the local 1/8th mile track) no traction till the top of 3rd on street tires and horrid e/t's..

Couple questions:

Did you go through the water? What were you 60ft times?

Running on street tires takes a little work but still can net you good times. You need to leave the line like you are leaving a normal traffic light, but with a little more aggression. You should be able to cut 2.0-2.1 on your tires which is not the best but respectable.

This is why you're spinning, get 10.5" wide rims on the back and 315's of something good. My DS-G3's work well in 315 size.

12.5 should be easy to hit with halfway decent traction, seat time and tires will drop your times a lot. What was your trap speed?

Drivers mod!!! Your car is able to run 11's easy! Ease up out of the hole and get traction! Your on drags so yu could launch at 3500 easy and get traction. Heat the tires up and let the car cool down.

My trap time was 110. 60' was 2.4 and yes i did go through the water...ill go around for now.

Stay out of the water with street tires, heat them enough to get sticky, no John Force burnouts, what rpm are you leaving at? you should be leaving a little higher then idle 1-1500 rpms on your tires, ride the clutch a little if you have to, dont stomp on it, if you spin, let out a little and feather it, after you hook let her have it, speed shift in the 5800-6000 rpm range

Let us know how you do next time, it takes practice, the most important tip is to just........................have fun:burnout:

Holy Hell... First off; No matter how late you get to the track, NEVER EVER EVER hot lap that biotch. You did THREE runs in FORTY-FIVE Minutes?!?!?! Jebus!!

Secondly, Lower your tire pressure. I don't even roll on the street at 30+Psi, and I DD my Cobra. My old SY cobra ran 12.5ish on 315/35 Nitto 555 street tires with wayyy less HP than you. You should be able to come close, Just keep practicing.
