Finally got my Sub-Frame connectors welded in thanks to fellow Cobra owner and ASME certified welder, Dave Thompson.. Nice install and nice Full-length connectors. Car feels a bit better and stiffer.

I coated the connectors with Masterseries Permanent Rust/Sealer Primer after installation.

I should have painted the topside of the connectors first, as they are a bitch to get at even with an angled small brush after welding.

I also changed oil to Mobil 1 5W-30 plus one bottle of Royal purple 5W-20. It’s ok to mix, as both are premium PAO oils. Sucker takes 7 quarts! That’s good I guess.

The big surprise was when I changed to the Royal Purple Synchromax gear oil in the Tremec 6 speed.

Wow, what a difference, the car is actually fn to shift now! Dave has the Pro 5.0 is his 99 Cobra and swears by it, but there is such a big difference with the Royal purple, I think I will wait till next year on a shifter upgrade.

Next modification is the 3” catted exhaust from ¼ mile performance and then a 3.2” pulley. After that a 3” pulley, or the lower 2 lbs set-up, Amazon Racingchip and CAI Then I’ll go after the TB/MAF/ Plenum transition piece etx., and finally Full length headers. Oh, and I will get that Pro 5.0 shifter too!

Ford reserves the right to deny any warrantee work, So if they want to be pricks they can deny anything, even the most legitamate failure.

Hopefully Ford is reasonable about this, however I don't think anyone would get to far with Ford if you have a rust problem or frame structual failure if you add subframes.

However, the Fox body does fold up in a collosion, and then the door do not open. Subframes properly installed really help here.

What's the fluid capacity of the T-56 tranny? I'd like to swap out my stock fluid for some Royal Purple. Does the T-56 have a lower drain plug or will I have to suck the stock fluid out with a vacuum pump?
