finally got my cat back on this morning, is it normal for smoke to come out of the tail pipes after you shut the car off, was there some protective oil in the pipes? Also, how did the driver side tail pipe fit, did it touch the plastic cutout?

Yes, some smoke when new is normal.
Yes, they are oiled.
Mine fit perfectly without any bending.
