FR500C (1999) was a production Race only (road racing) car that did not happen; but most of the parts are available through Ford Racing. In 2000, the Cobra-R was released with more cubes but less power thatn the FR500. It cost $57,000 in 1999. The FR500 is a standard 99 Cobra with; FR500 Heads (mine are ported) FR500 High Lift Cams FR500 Springs FR500 Valves and retainers FR500 Cam Followers FR500 Varaible Geometry Intake (long *torque* and short *HP* runners) with a computer controlled actuator to change from long to short and back to long, etc. FR500 Cat Back with a double Crossover This motor outs about 410 RWHP and 380 RWTQ and 7600 RPM. It is a high RPM engine and is still making power and cutoff. It is the most powerful NA Cobra made and competes favorably with Terminators (blown). Of course terminators can be tweaked many times to surpass the power of an FR500. Mine weighs in at 3488 pounds which make it compete with favor with stock Shelby GT500's (4090 pounds) and 418 RWHP but @ 6000 RPMs. Great car, with a nice lope, but good street manners and can run 11.80s - 11.90s on slicks ot I have run a poor 12.23 on GS-DS3's loosing traction twice. Now, with NOS these cars run in the mid 10s. See Nazman, a few guys did quite well with these cars. I think about a dozen or so have done them. It cost about $8,000-$10,000, with a built bottom end (needed for this HP and RPM range). But a nice $10,000 99 with a TEKSID block + $10,000 gives your a great NA car. That is $20,000 total (close to fair condition terminator).
