The badasses over at Lund Racing picked up their 2020 Shelby GT500 and wasted no time and getting to work! They installed their signature cammed idle tune onto the car via HPTuners and it sounds delicious.

Is a tune-achieved cammed idle any different than pumping v8 sounds into a cabin via the speakers?

    Asking for a friend.

Never a fan of these "ghost cam" tunes.

If u can spend the coin to get this car do it right and put "real" cams in the Predator, have the CHOP come out of the pipes FOR REAL!!!

Quite a bit different actually. Do you not understand what causes a lopey idle?

I have a pretty good understanding of it, but probably couldn’t write a scientific paper with all the correct terminology.

Having said that, there are no aftermarket camshafts in this car, so it has been tuned to sound like there is one. Is that not similar to producing a false sound for effect? Maybe, maybe not.

Edit: It’s been tuned to create the effect without any performance gains.

I wonder what horsepower gains are made at Idle? ;)

Is it me, or is that not even worth the money?
Maybe I need to listen to it a couple of times, but it doesn't really sound pronounced to me.

We've seen the vids, heard the car (cold start, revs etc etc), sounds pretty f-ing good to me in any exhaust mode stock.

I "hear" your point. Additionally, some people spend a decent amount of money on cat backs and axle back exhaust that is mainly for sound these days. It is no different, although probably markedly cheaper since most people will tune it anyways, which will yield power. It is probably worth the small amount of additional charge added to the tune (if there is one) to have a cam like sound. Different strokes for different folks man.

Full tune or piggyback? I heard it would be a while to get a full tune.

Why do the cams have to be aftermarket to lope? When you add aftermarket cams and you still have to manipulate them to lope is that OK or is it not? What if Ford degreed the cams to lope from the factory and that WAS the factory settings is it OK then?

Just because you have the ability to create a smooth idle from TIVCT doesn't mean the cams aren't aggressive, it just means you have the ability to use aggressive cams and manipulate them to have a smooth idle.

You also said the cams have no performance gains. Do you think the cams have the same specs at idle and at 7000rpm? They don't. The LSA changes which turns the very mild streetable cams into the "low midrange torque, high rpm HP" performance cams.

What your basically saying is it's "fake" to have the performance cam settings at idle because you have the ability to make them smooth at idle. Maybe the extra HP you get from TIVCT at high RPM is also fake.

Exactly , overlap is overlap. Whether it's forged into the profile or manipulated by hydraulic actuators its still the exact same overlap.

I can't take Yolo serious. First of all the HC A8 does the same thing. If you hold the down shift paddle steady the car puts you in the appropriate gear for a roll race. Second, isn't he the bozo that said he heard from a friend that GT500's were popping motors left and right on one of his live blogs? And that you may want to hold off on getting one. Speed Phenom who has been providing really good actual info has more street cred than this bozo.
