im flippin thru the brothers perf catalog , lunar series amr4103 boost 30psi (mech) 69.99, whats the difference between mechanical and electric, the one in brothers says mech for 69.99 is that the way to go?
Motorcycles have gone almost exclusively to electric gauges recently. In that case the main difference is weight, the electric ones being much lighter.
I believe a mechanical boost gauge would require a hose, and the boost pressure would directly activate the needle against a fixed-rate spring. An electric gauge would have a sensor in the engine compartment, and just electrical wires to the gauge itself, where a tiny stepper motor points the needle at the appropriate number. It's basically a "digital" gauge with an analog display.
