The panhard bar is needed when u go aftermarket wheels with more offset. U can really see how the rear is not cenetered between the quarters. I'm running a 20x12 rear rim with 315s and without this bar the one side would be hanging past the body which would look like shit..

I had K springs with nothing else as well. The ride is harsh but the alignment was in spec. The rear was shifted over and I never got around to installing my panhard bar but it was not a huge deal.

eeekkkk i guess i wont be going this route!

I ran Eibach pro kit with Koni STR T shocks and the ride was great.I dont think you need camber bolts just the panhard.

the thing is the stock shocks are matched with the springs. If you change to a spring with a diff spring rate you may have premature wear of the stock shocks.

I would just save up and do both dampers and springs.
This! My car is under the knife as we speak. I should be getting her back in a few hours. Went with the Roush DUB/Eibach kit with STR.T shocks/struts and BMR Panhard. I did everything since I didn't want premature wear of my shocks. I figured that'd be more labor down the road. Also got the BMR because even from the factory, my wheels line up to the left a bit. It's pretty even with the wheel well on the driver side and inset about an inch on the passenger side.

Do you need new upper strut mounts when just changing springs?

You dont, but some report their stock strut mounts falling apart and others dont. Some have popping occuring after install and some dont. Its worth it to get the GT500 strut mounts weather your doing springs or a complete strut and springs setup.

Whats weird is when i had K springs installed with STR's i didnt need much of an alignment change or camber adjustments. After a few months the ride bugged me so i went with the P springs which are only about 1 inch drop front and rear and had to order camber bolts.

To sum this up. if your gonna lower the car, buy springs and depending on your level of drop apply camber bolts and panhard bar accordingly.

So I want to put either FRPP P springs or steeda's sport springs on my gt when I get it. Everyone seems to change out the struts and do cc plates when they lower their cars. Can I just change the springs without changing anything else, or do you have to do all the support stuff too when lowering these cars? I would think that only lowering the car a 1'' to 1 1/4" would not need anything else.

I added the Steeda "Boss" springs because I did not want that much of a drop but wanted a higher spring rate than the FRPP "P" springs. When I talked to Sam Strano about a suspension set up I asked about a panhard bar. He made a comment that I had not really thought of. He said the Boss302 is lower than a stock GT. But the panhard bar is the same. He recommended installing the springs and then see if I needed a panhard bar. He said if the rear end in still centered well not to bother spending money on a new panhard bar or support brace. With the 1"(ish) drop up front 1.25" of the Steeda "Boss" springs my rear end shifted less than a 1/16" to the one side. Using a plumb bob to measure this. Saved me money which was nice.

The 1.5" drop springs like the Steeda "Sports" or FRPP "K" springs you will most likely need the adjustable panhard bar to center the rear.

I ended up installing MM C/C plates on my car. So I have a brand new set of Eibach camber bolts. If you want to meet up for them you can have them for $15. Part number 5.81260K.

kind of a silly question, but can someone tell me if I will need standard sized wrenches and sockets to DIY suspension install on this car or do they use metric now? Sorry, I am new to American cars

I have GT500 mounts, Koni STR.T, and the Eibach/Roush springs installed and the ride is outstanding. My Eibach camber bolts just came in yesterday so I plan to get an alignment done this Saturday. My only complaint with my setup is that I hear a low, faint noise when the springs compress. It's not quite a squeak. It's more like "Ricket" sound. I'm not sure if its the springs, struts, tires, or mounts. I can't figure out what this sound is for shit.

Kinda of a mix. I used metric on almost everything except the the strut nut that bolts the top hat on. I was able to use one of my angled SAE box ends on it.

anything showing signs of rubbing?

tires wheels or anything out of ordinary?

none that I can tell but will triple check the wheel wells and tires. I'm still riding on stock 18s so it shouldn't be an issue with this mild drop.

I just noticed my car doing this today. It's been fine (or I just now noticed it), but at very low speeds (<5mph) I get a creaking kind of pop that I can feel through the brake pedal and hear on the driver's side. You can feel it if you put your hand on the sidewall of the tire when someone rocks the steering wheel back and forth slightly. I only feel it on the driver's side, which also happened to be the side that the mount came apart on me when I did the springs.

At the time it was my GT500 mounts. I hate I went that route and should have purchased the 11-14 Koni struts that use the native 11-14 mounts
