I recently installed a Motorcraft OEM locking gas cap part number is 8L3Z-9030-E. It looks just like the stock cap, plus the lanyard is positioned correctly for the way our fuel door opens.

I pryed off the button that secures the plastic strap with a plastic prybar and popped the new one in place - simple!

Good call. I have never understood why Ford has never used a locking fuel door like every other manufacturer.

Almost forgot about this part. Thanks for the reminder. I ordered one today.

Surgar in the gas tank can lead to a really bad week.

Well back when gas was 4-5 bucks a gallon if you had a locking cap they would just punch a hole in the bottom of the tank and let it pour. There are pros and cons. I had the locking on mine but got tired of it as the pig tail was a little shorter than the original and you had to flip it just right to make the door close properly.

Not so with this one; the lanyard is plenty long.
