On Sunday I filled the tank with 93, added stabil gas and drove it a few miles back to my mom's garage. All was going as planned... I pulled the car in the garage, turned it off and started placing the flat stoppers at all four tires and then asked my mom to come help observe me driving onto the ramps. I got into the car and turned it on. Then I decided to double check the ramps one more time so I got out. I must have inadvertently pushed down on the door lock when I shut the driver side door. I realized with horror the door was locked when I tried to get back in and checked the passenger side which was locked as well. My spare key was at my home 45 minutes away! I freaked out realizing the car could be idling for more than 1 hour potentially. We called roadside assistance and the automated system told us a driver would be there in 1.5 hours. The radiator fan is working and was replaced about 3 years ago and I could hear it coming on. I checked the temperatures on the gauge through the driver side window and it was ok. So as a backup I got in the car and started driving home to get the spare key just in case. I decided to call roadside one more time and this time bypassed the automated system and got a human on the line. I told him the situation and he called one of the drivers and told me he would be there in 20 minutes. When I called my mom she told me the driver just called her to say he is 15 minutes out. I turned around asap and the Cobra was already turned off and the driver down the road by the time I pulled in to my mom's driveway. I waved at him as he passed us again after doing his u-turn. The guy was quick! After checking the car over I double checked the ramps one more time which were kicked out of position by the driver and was able to drive the car on the ramps. The car idled for about 30 minutes. What a **** up the night turned out to be. I've had the Cobra for over 15 years and this is the first time this happened. Now I really appreciate the new keyless remote systems.
