Introducing the Livernois Motorsports Firestorm HPFP

For performance enthusiasts Ford's EcoBoost engine platform has been a major hit, and that was even before Ford began putting the smaller boosted engines in their flagship performance vehicles. FoMoCo's stance has been clear from the start, they want to see an EcoBoost in everyone's driveway. With the GT, RS, and Raptor only being available with tweeked EcoBoost engines making serious factory power it is becoming even more difficult for the 'V8 Only' crowd to embrace the OEM turbo'd mills. That's especially true when you throw in the fact that the EcoBoost line responds ridiculously well to simple bolt-ons.

However, there has always been one thing really holding back the EcoBoost from reaching insane gains on the stock bottom-end; the factory high-pressure-fuel-pump (which feeds 3,000+PSI fuel to the direct injectors). The OEM cam driven HPFP simply runs out of steam way before the rest of the components (turbo and rotating assembly) become limits. Without the ability to flow more fuel through the factory pump owners seeking more power had to turn to expensive and complicated secondary port-injection fuel systems or alternative fuel sources (such as methanol injection).

Thanks to Livernois Motorsports those in the pursuit of more power now have a much simpler option, the Firestorm High Pressure Fuel Pump. It is capable of flowing twice the fuel of the factory pump. With the Livernois HPFP EcoBoost owners will now be able to take full advantage of their factory turbochargers and the addition of higher flowing aftermarket fuel injectors. Not only that, but the Firestorm pump will be able to keep up with larger aftermarket turbos and ethanol based fuels.

The Livernois Firestorm HPFP is also much safer for your engine than secondary fueling solutions, with their added complication. If one of these added fuel system components fail under boost you could very easily be viewing the inside of you engine through a brand-new window in your block. For the time being Livernois is only offering its Firestorm High Pressure Fuel Pump for the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost engine found in the 2015+ S550 Mustangs and the 2016+ Focus RS, though they may expand the line in the future.

The crew at Livernois tells us that they have seen fuel pressure drops with stock pump with even the factory tune, and every aftermarket tune. In fact, if your aftermarket tune does not have certain safeties built in you may be vulnerable to catastrophic engine damage. Essentially any tuned 2.3L EcoBoost can benefit from the addition of the Livernois Firestorm HPFP. We're told that the Livernois pump has supported over 370 WHP on E85 in 30 degree temps on the shops Focus RS, and should be capable of supporting more than 550 WHP on gasoline. The Livernois Firestorm High Pressure Fuel Pump should be available in 2-4 weeks, and a tune is required in order to run it. At the time of this writing a final price was not available, but keep an eye on SVTP for more information as it becomes available.

Not sure if serious - looks like a nice piece and definitely needed, but yikes on the price.

Completely serious, that is a high pressure pump, it is a godsend to eco guys wanting to make power. Finally a pump to go with the new DW high pressure injectors.

It increases the volume that can be supplied at the desired pressure. Under heavy load the stock pump simply can't keep up and will start to experience a pressure drop. The Livernois will greatly raise that ceiling.
