Dumb argument.

PD blower is easier way to get to 9s vs a centri all day every day.

I’ve had them all including TT’s.

Scott’s VMP car (and many others) have gone 9s damn near bone stock other than the blower kit.

The PD advantage in chasing an ET is they don’t need a stall due to the torque production down low.

We already went over this. Idk who Scott is, I hope it’s not the guy that had to go built motor/race gas to hit 9s.

Stock motor, stock OPG, stock trans, stock converter, stock driveshaft and stock halfshafts here.

So pulley down until the tuner/conventional wisdom says stop, and just take what it gives? I love love love dig racing, or just dig driving fast solo lol, so I don't necessarily need or even want a ton of toque down low.

Huh? You don’t have to “build the motor” to go 9s

Countless people have already done it and gone much faster than you.

Not trying to be a dick, but the coyote has proven itself on countless set ups LONG before you procharged your s550.

Justin went 8s on a stock long block in snow whitte..... weak ass gen 1 coyote too.

Tony “Dtony” 9s stock long block.... again gen 1 car.

Seen several threads of this people not making what they expect with torque boosters, WG acting up, boost creeps, etc.

This started on another thread about what it takes to hit the 9s and whether one or the other “is by far easier” to do vs another. Discussing these other cars I’ve never heard of or what mods they even have. Kinda going off the deep end to discuss some car owned by a guy across the US neither of us know.

We already went thru some of the details of 11seclx’s car. VMP, aluminator, 10-11psi, drag pack, other basic support mods and C12 race gas and went 9.9 at 138. Respectable times. I just don’t agree one setup is “far easier” to hit a 9 vs another.

All I can say on the subject any further is that if I were solely chasing a number again, 9s in this case, I would use a VMP 2.3 (or Whipple 2.9 if allowed) and just perform the expected fuel mods (injectors and a BAP I guess) and call up PBD for tuning. Should be really close with either blower with stock suspension and transmission. Just pulley it to the tuner's max comfort level.

I know the people I’ve mentioned and have had many discussions with them over the years regarding tuning, pulley set ups, and everything in between.

Bottom line... built motor not required to go 9s.

Centri probably going to need a converter in 6r80 car for 9s.

TVS won’t need the converter, but initial cost of blower is higher.

They all have their pros and cons.

+1.

The 2650 on a 15-17 car is going to be nasty.

Just different way of thinking. In south Florida if I was buying a new blower kit I’d likely go Stage 2 D1x for a street car/weekend drag racing application.

What rpm is your p1 spinning at 7600ish ? You should be able to pulley down for >800 rwhp with the proper fuel(e-85)

Dtony had a stock Boss shortblock. I cant remember if he switched over to it before or after he hit 9s the first time. I talked to him at the track for a good bit a few times, but that has been a few years...haha. I'm rather sure he hit higher 9s the previous year, then put that motor in and pullied down. He did it for "insurance" rather than necessity. He didn't want to potentially scatter the coyote bottom end. He knew that it probably could have held up for a bit, but he wasnt interested in potentially losing the motor at speed.

So I sold my 18x10 F14s with 285 MT on it to a friend that wanted them. I purchased some 17x10 F14s and 305-45-17 MT. Unfortunately the wheels that came were 17x9.5, not ideal but within MT’s recommended wheel sizes so we’re going to try to make it work. Love the weight of these, these wheels are 10lbs lighter than the saleens I used on my last pass/personal best.

These MTs are heavy! 36lbs each. So overall setup is heavier than the 18x10s with 285-40-18 rubber.

Finally mounted new tires on the new wheels.

I REALLY want the drag brakes for my 2018 but don’t want to give up my parking brake.

Yours looks great.

Depends on whether you’re auto or manual and what terrain you live in. In south Florida everything is flat, I’ve never used it soo..
