Lighter Door

Im missing the spring on my shifter bezel lighter door, so the door doesnt stay closed.

I dont know if just the spring is gone or if something is broken off as well.

Can anyone post a pic of what it should look like and if nothing is broken, can just the spring be replaced?

If not, Im gluing the door closed.

Just use a small dab of clear silicon if you must, don't hack it up with glue.
Did you remove the bezel and look at the mechanism?

I messed around with mine last fall with the bezel out of the car. The spring is like a safety pin in shape, made of thin wire. The plastic mounts for the spring were broken. I tried gluing them together using plastic weld cement. That worked OK until I moved the "door" a couple of times with the spring installed. The glued joint broke again. I re-glued it and left the spring off and reinstalled the bezel. Looks fine from inside the cabin.

Im going to put a 2001 shifter bezel in. I painted it this morning, not a perfect match, but the car is far from perfect anyway.

The OEM color is easy to find. I bought the SEM spray paint on Amazon
