Our buddies over at Whipple just sent us some insider information:

They've tested their new 2.9L kits for the SVT Raptor and the results are in!

With the base kit, including a GT500 throttle body, the kit put out an impressive 520rwhp @ 5700rpm, and 500ft/lbs torque @ 3600rpm. This was at 8.5 psi and on 91 octane.

An available upgrade will be the Whipple billet twin 75mm throttle body, which adds 25hp and 15ft/lbs torque.

This news only means the release of the kits is closer than ever!

Are you excited? We are. :pepper:

Here's the video of the kit idling and making a pull on the dyno:

Raptor needs forged internals... another motor built for N/A... bleh....

Rather buy a powerstroke and save myself money and a reliability.

We daily drive our Whipple powered Raptor at 10psi with 93 octane. Never had an issue. Not sure how much more power the stock motor can handle but I'm pretty content with how it performs now.

I'm sure it performs well, but 10 psi on stock internals is not a wise decision for someone who doesn't own or work in a speed shop.

Let me know when it blows up

Has anyone really tried to find out? I thought when the 6.2L came out everyone was excited it would have a ton of potential? I haven't heard anybody doing anything with them since?

They definitely have potential. We gained a ton of power and tq over stock with the Whipple. It's like a totally different vehicle. Over 160rwhp increase over stock. That's a lot considering the drivetrain loss these trucks have.

You all need to start doing sustained durability tests. I wouldn't expect running at redline for 20 hrs like the Ford factory does, but throwing a blower on an N/A motor and driving it around to the grocery store and freeway for 5-10K miles is not enough to say "yeah we haven't had any issues".... throw a freakin sustained load on it - Go tow 10,000 pounds across the country at 80mph and see how long it lasts. I bet you won't even get out of the state of florida before you break a connecting rod.

What sort of 1/4 mile is this truck running with the whipple?
Thanks.

We've been low 14's full weight running 93 octane. The truck only made 3 or 4 passes. I've got a customer with the same setup as us that went 13.81 @ 99 and for the last pass of the night he iced the s/c, took off the spare tire/tailgate and went 13.64 @ 100.

Hope that helps.

The raptor wasn't built to tow 10k lbs across the country.... It's kind of irrelevant. I'd like to know what threshold e motor lets go atbut towing is not the way to do it..
