It's unfortunate it takes events like these to learn lessons, I got pulled over last year probably over three times the legal limit, didn't realize how drunk I was and thought well, It's not THAT far and I didn't want to leave my truck where it was or stay where I was.
Pulled over by PD for doing 80 in a 35 at 4 in the morning, he said.. but I was maybe doing 10 over, who knows but I wasn't going that fast, looked at my ID and said he had to be somewhere else.....That was the last time I will get that lucky, and the last time I have ever driven after taking a drink.
Everyone always says don't blow, but cant they get your BAC at the hospital anyways or was that a labor day only law last year?
You must be Irish because I've never heard of such luck. lol I can't believe he let you go especially with it being in Texas because they don't joke around about driving drunk in this state. I think what you're thinking of is the special weekends/holidays that they choose and it's no refusal they pretty much take your blood on the spot IIRC or at least they do in Austin. Blowing was a mistake but I didn't do to well on the sobriety tests from what I remember so I think I wouldn't have had any greater chance at just getting obstruction or anything less than DWI because I was clearly drunk. If I hadn't blown my suspension would have been 180 days instead of 90.
