I'm not going to make this, but it is possible for some of you mid Atlantic guys to take advantage. The deal is really good for folks new to the club.. Here is the blurb written by COM's chief instructor: DE/Time Trial Summit Point Main May 7-8 COM Sports Car Club is a HPDE & Time Trial club based in the Northeast. On average, about 25-40% of our field is made up of Miatas, featuring cars and drivers of all abilities, from totally stock to totally un-stock, from 1st timers to long-time instructors. We're coming to Summit Point May 7-8 and there will be plenty of track time since registration is pretty light. Even if you've never tried a HPDE or Time Trial, you should think about coming! Here's why it's a good deal: First time attendees with COM get $100 off, which means it's just $125 for a single day or $325 for 2 days. You also get a $20 credit per day to apply to a future event, like Watkins Glen, Mosport, NHMS, etc. If you're a solo/advanced driver, expect to get 4+ hours of track time on Monday and about the same on Tuesday (depending on how well the time trial goes). If you're a student, expect to get 2 hours of track time on Monday and 2-4 hours on Tuesday depending on if you achieve solo status. We run our schools and time trials a bit differently than the time trials you might have heard about (like NASA's). For the time trial session, we group drivers with similar times into groups of 4-5 cars. You're released on track at 30 second intervals and then you get a warmup lap and 3 hot laps. There is NO PASSING at all during time trials--if you catch someone you get to run again, and if you get caught by someone there's no penalty. This makes our time trial a very safe way to go run 3_perfect_ laps without any traffic. It's very low stress and safe. The time trial is all about you, your car, and the track. Turn your best laps without worrying about anyone slowing you down and without having to check your rear view mirror. After the time trial is complete, all solo drivers are able to run in the open track session. If the time trial goes well, there's often 2-2.5 hours of open track at the end of the day. See http://www.comscc.org/getting-started/about-events/ for more info and go to http://www.comscc.org/news/2012/04/s...-registration/ to register. Let me know if you have any questions!
