So the hole is 330,000 multiplied by 20,000,000,000, or, expressed mathematically, 6.6 X 10^OMFG

Size, mass, weight, etc... They're all so completely relative, especially when you simply move the proverbial needle from one perspective to another.

Great article, thanks for sharing

The funny thing about hypermassive black holes is that their radius is so large that at the event horizon, the average density is less than water. Let that sink in, literally. The damn thing is so large that it loses its ability to compress simply because of gravitational force decay at such a great distance.

They estimate the radius being 7-9 times larger than our solar system. One. Single. Object.

[insert yo mamma joke here]

That's kind of ironic.

Imagine if the "blackness" we see in the night sky is not space, but simply black holes behind the stars.

At this point, anything is possible.

Those hole sizes are meant for my Massive Johnson. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

There’s no escaping the inevitable. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Our species needs to embark on exitin our solar system and finding habitats. We can’t expect to survive indefinitely as a species on this planet.

That black hole is far from us but I think space exploration is pivotal. We need to get zero point energy systems up and working. So much to do, so little time...

Short version: it could swallow our sun, which is about 99% of everything in the solar system, nearly 900,000 miles in diameter, and it's 330,000 times the mass of Earth. Gone, in two days.

For comparison, this hole masses nearly 20 billion times the mass of the sun.

So it's somewhat big then.... ;)

But seriously, that is very interesting.

Am I right in saying it would take approximately 589 days to cross that expanse if someone were to drive at 70 mph constantly?

EDIT: Ooops, I put in 990,000 miles with my math and not 900,000.\

More like 535 days....if I did it correctly.

If you're trying to refer to the black hole' s size, then no. The black hole is 20 billion of our sun.

The 900,000 was referring to our solar system I believe.
