knocking in the enhine from a rod????

ive got a 04 comp orange svt focus, which has been great as far as not having any serious mechanical issues. today however it fell on its face in a corner going around 50 or 60 and immediately a knocking sound came from the engine. Im not positive if it is a thrown rod or if i need an oil change since its been over 5000 since my last. Anybody know of some ways to troubleshoot for a thrown rod besides the lack of power and knocking noise???

Sounds like the timing belt went out on you.....
And 5000 miles WITHOUT an oil change.... huh....

Did you check the oil after this happened? Impossible to give any sort of advice based on your description.
