Do you know of anyone making a replacement filter for a stock 2013 that is dry, washable and has a screen like the original?

I still use the stock Ford air filter on my 13 GT500 and I always wondered about the screen. Is it to smooth the air flow across the MAF sensor, or protection if the filter was to tear, preventing the paper media from being ingested into the engine??

I heard that it was there to smooth out the air flow across the MAF. The theory was that the air coming through the ram air tube created turbulence when it hit the air cleaner element at a right angle. I remember one member made a deflector shield to deflect the airflow coming from the ram air tube so the air flow went around the filter instead of impacting it directly.

I have one of the Airaid dry filters that has no screen and I have not seen a problem at all with it.

I also have the same filter and have not seen any problems, but I drive it like a normal car. The problem seems to rear its head when driving at high speed.
