Just changing oil, found this!

So, car runs great, not chasing any gremlins or anything, just dumping oil and filter before I head to the rally this week. Looked up and damn!

Have it tore down in this pic and the broken piece turned out by hand luckily. Havent touched the alt since 2010, and never noticed it before. No belt chirps, extra rattling or anything.
Crazy lucky.
So, I know its a 8mmx1.25 bolt, but does anyone know what the head size is?

Damn that's lucky. My bolt came out and was flung into my radiator. I periodically do a check of the bolts ever since. I found a few since running solid motor mounts. Loctite is your friend.

Got the oem one ordered this morning. They come 4 to a package so I will have a few extra!

I'd ad some blue Loctite just just to rest easy

I dont think loc tite will keep the head of the bolt from snapping off though.
Hard to say how long its been hanging out that way. I wouldn't think its been too long just because it never caused a bigger issue. Odd break, but shit happens. Belt pulls hard enough to crack the stock idlers, I wonder if some of the same forces are at work here.
