I have one of these. Works pretty good.

As long as you can get good attachments so you can get into all the areas that need vac'ing, any shop vac or the like will work for you!

I have a shop vac and it does the job but I was looking to see if there was a better alternative. Maybe I’ll try vesting in better attachments and hose first.

Is the metro vacuum noticeably better then a shop vac?

I use the Hoover GUV for a couple of reasons:

Wall mounted
Great suction
30 foot flexible hose made for what you need.

No, I don't think it's necessarily any better, just works for me, it's wall mounted and works in the space I have, has lots of attachments/hoses/etc.

I bought my wife another Dyson handheld because I use it so much on the cars.
Light handheld unit. Stays in garage on charger, when I need it it takes 60 seconds to touch up the car tops.
I also have a shop vac, but the heldheld is much better at interior upkeep.

Thanks everyone! I think for now I may stick with the shop vac I have an just buy a more car oriented hose and attachments set up. Down the road when an additional garage we are building is complete I may spring for a wall mounted simply to conserve space.

Damn those Dyson V10s are pricey. Ours are V7s around $200.
Having a cordless is great for the cars especially if you don’t let them get really bad.

One major difference in "shop vacs" is how loud they are. If you can hear it before you buy it, you might be happier in the long run.

I already have one and hate how loud it is lol. Thankfully we don’t let the interiors get too dirty so I only have to use it every few washes if that. All weather mats in both our vehicles are a huge help.

That is soo true. One of the reasons I went with the Hoover GUV. Much quieter than Shop Vac
