Rumor is Ford can drop the 8.0 early to compete with GM. Stellantis and Cummins are under contract for the 6.7 through the 2030 model year, so they have some serious catching up to do. If they really can't respond until 2031, their sales will suffer especially if GM and Ford can kill DEF with their motors.

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill requiring AM radio to be included in all new vehicles sold in the U.S., addressing concerns over its removal by some automakers. The legislation now moves to the Senate for further consideration.

The story on how they got, then lost that franchise is wild.

A 325HP 610TQ 5.9 ISB would feel fine hooked to a 10R140.

Would be interesting. My last tow rig was an O5 Cummins auto. Had programmer (and meth inj kit) that I only towed on "1" or "2", due to trans (converter especially) worry's. Loved that truck and really had no issues over 20 years.

But as I kept adding weight over the years, it's power became borderline for my tastes. There is one super steep long hill, I would actually drive 15 miles out of my way, to one of the Pa offroad parks, due to not liking to have to floor the Dodge over that long a stretch.

The new Ford PS is effortless. Maybe some of it is new 10 speed, but I'm not going back, DEF or not. It's also nice to be able to pop out in traffic in the fast lane and get by a slower vehicle, without being a "dick", passing a truck doing 55, @ 56.......

Shelby possibly making a return to Dodge to work on the GLH and the GLHS as well as possibly a V8 charger.

A newer 8-10 spd transmission would transform one of those older diesels. You were only working with 3 non-OD gears in that 48RE.

Long story short, I heard it was due to them not paying off liens on trade-in vehicles.

The 10spd would make a huge difference vs the 4-spd you had. My diet'd 6.4 PSD on a tow tune (essentially stock power) never felt low on power.

I'm done dealing with the complicated nature of modern diesels. I'm just going to put a Whipple on my Godzilla and ride off to that great gas station in the sunset.

I am interested in doing the same on one of our 7.3's. My one main concern is hill/mountain driving w/o an exhaust brake. Are there any complete whipple packages out there for that or will it need to be pieced together?

Whipple sells a direct kit for the 7.3. My old diesel didn't have an exhaust brake and I managed.

Looks like the new OHC Cummins may come with Jakes. Future YeYes will be even more insufferable.

Cool thanks.

I live in the Sierra's, so an exhaust brake is a VERY nice feature to have.

Official: 555 horsepower and 1,230 pound-feet of torque. It’s the first heavy-duty diesel GM developed entirely in-house. The 6.6L gasser produces 412 hp and 472 pound-feet of torque.

Some additional specs:
Cold V turbo setup
Fully forged bottom end
Gear driver cams, oil pump, fuel pump, and water pump

Accel no doubt, but being floored on a certain hill, unlikely any amount of gears is making up for half the torque. Would have let me turn up the wick quite a bit more on that dodge though.

For some reason, the more weight I added, the more some kind of minor acoustic resonance developed under load in that dodge. Got annoying to listen to for hours and hours. Not sure if something was just getting older.

I did only have 60K when I sold it to a buddy at work. He was dying to get that truck since he knows how I keep/treat my rides and little emission stuff. Was in pretty nice shape in 2023.......

The senate will not do anything. It is a retirement home now.

My local Ford dealer is definitely way down on truck inventory. RAM and GM packed.

Ford Motor Company (F) halted production of its F-150 pickup truck at a plant near Detroit, according to a memo spotted by Reuters. All shifts for production crews at Dearborn Truck Plant were canceled through September 29, according to the memo.

Sources indicate production of the F-150 truck at other plants was also impacted by the same unspecified issue.

Last year, fires at supplier Novelis’s New York aluminum plant disrupted material for Ford's (F) F-150 and other F-Series trucks. The plant restarted its hot mill in June 2026, and Ford (F) has since increased production, although dealer inventory remained below its target in early September. Looking further back, a semiconductor shortage caused repeated pauses or reduced schedules for F-150 production, including at Dearborn in 2021 and Kansas City in 2022.
