Impressive grime.

Do you have oil separators or catch cans?

no breathers..Fords rust proofing..

looks like cyl 4 may have dirty injector..

last time all 8 were baked black,
I try to run stp fuel treatment as often as I can remember..

I can see why I was getting codes with vacuum items...but no 171/174..

I brought my intercooler and upper intake to a local guy who does diesel particulate filters (apparently they are really expensive to replace). He said his ultrasonic tank was plenty big enough and charged me about $80 bucks to let both parts sit in it for a few hours. Just a suggestion but they came out pretty good and there was no pressure washing or anything else that could damage the fins..

Yeah so I just read the part about "the car is at 419k"... I don't think you need MY advice. Holy smokes!

block is untouched..just fords head issues.

I don' kill it..but it has mostly hwy miles..80mph is the basic pace here ,

i won' lie..I still bang 100mph every time I leave home..
i live far in the country and a dual lane road with 70mph sign when I pull out is hard not to..

pretty much what i expected. be hard not to have fun in it for 400k.

i have an ongoing argument with my dad about this issue. he's convinced that wot pulls through 1st and 2nd are going to blow up the engine. he doesn't understand how tough these engines are.

In the 03/04 Cobras I'd agree with you. In the other platforms.... not so much.

there are a ton of 2v 4.6 taxis that would like a word with you. also, the 4v n/a cobras are pretty reliable in stock form.

most engines are if you just do maintenance regularly. lots of hwy miles helps too. engines have very little wear when running.

My thinking went to those of us who strap blowers on to an other wise stock 4.6. As with anything care and maintenance makes the difference. My buddy has an 01 with close to 200k on the clock. But I'm the one that put a blower on my stock 01 and cracked three pistons with a conservative tune.

I think most people associate bulletproof with being able to handle power. A different thought process is used if the word reliability is used.
