Hi there

I have a 2012 Mustang 5.0 motor. I’m about to install the timing chains back on. Cylinder heads weren’t removed so the chains on the cams were left on.

My issue is I did NOT follow the removal procedure. I believe I had just left the key way @ 12 oh clock and removed both chains in that position.

Now that I’m ready to install the chains back on. Can I rotate the cams a certain way to make sure I correctly time the motor? Please get back to me thanks!

Thank you.

but both videos they show a procedure of what they did before. I didn’t do that. I just un did both chains at one position. Is there something I can do to make sure my cams are in the correct position?

The videos talk about the timing procedure. Did you watch them? The chains, chain sprocket, and cam sprockets all have marks that need to be lined up.

Yes I did watch em. My issue is I didn’t watch the videos before so I didn’t follow the removal procedure. Now the chains have to go on and the cams aren’t in correct positions.

Okay so I followed the video for MMR. I installed the timing chains. I rotated it two revolutions and the markings are back to the same spot as how I started. I’ve supplied pictures. Cams look neutral. Is this correct?
