[QUOTE="Mustang5L5, post: 16417956, member: 38517"] That thought did cross my mind. I saw the claim "Lightweight and drag" for the ATS's brakes on a few publications, but wondered how much of that was marketing-speak (because fuel efficiency is in demand) vs design intent. The ATS Brembo and Cobra R brembo are pretty similar. The ATS uses bigger pistons, but the body is similar. The pads are also very similar in shape. I don't have both in hand to compare, but i have had the chance to check out a 2000 R brembo in person and the designs are close. So with that logic, i would assume performance should be able the same? One "upgrade" to consider with the ATS brembo is the ability to run a 1.25" thick rotor. I've seen guys run the C6 style Baer caliper with 1.25" Baer 2-peice rotors. I also run the C6 style baer caliper (actually off a Pontiac GTO) on my car, and did experiment with some cut down GT500 rotors trimmed to 13.1 inches. The floating caliper fit perfectly, and it was great to have such a massive thick rotor. With the ATS brembos, running such a rotor might require tweaks to the caliper offset since a fix caliper cannot be adjusted for slight differences in rotor offset like a floating caliper can. ------ The pics of the GT500/XTS brembo setup mounted look great. I know when i initially set that up on my bench it was such an massive looking brake setup that i didn't know if it was practical. Then i discovered the 43mm Taurus caliper. I wonder what brake bias would be like with the 14" XTS setup, and the Baer 13.25" rear rotor with 43mm Taurus caliper? Only downside to that setup would be that the rear rotor is solid, vs vented.
