It just pinches the pads up tight the first time you hit the brakes. No different than pad wear.

Sounds like it's the same thickness as the smaller diameter GT rotor. They are also solid and not vented and is the only reason the pads are different between the GT and cobra. The GT pads are thicker to make up for the reduced thickness.

So, other than the finishing touches, I'm done with my swap. Thanks to @GodStang and @lowranger96 for the instructions and kit. I also did ss hoses, Taurus rear calipers, and a fluid flush. She stops great and I notice a bit of a difference in pedal feel but nothing major. I highly recommend it. For those wondering, with all 4 calipers, rotors, pads, hoses, fluid, insert kit, and paint, I'm into it for just over $1000. I could've done it for cheaper but I do occasionally run the car on track and didn't want any movement in the spindle. Ask away for those that are interested in the rear caliper swap as well.

That's probably the difference because the rotors are made for a gt. If I like it I might swap to gt pads.

When you sit back and think about the rotor being solid and thinner you realize how dumb it is. The ONLY difference between the two pad is thickness so why not run the cobra pad and have a vented rotor?

I finally got to take mine on a test drive yesterday with the 13.25" rear rotors, Baer has a crazy break in procedure for their rotors so I wasn't really hard on the brakes. I can definitely tell the braking is better balanced as the car doesn't nose dive so badly.

I did a test fit of the XTS calipers this weekend so I can answer that for you.

Stock Cobra Brakes with stock 17" 03/04 Cobra wheel:

14" GT500 rotor with XTS Brembo caliper

The GT500 brakes are HUGE behind that 18" Saleen wheel. The calipers BARELY clear the barrel and do touch the face of the rotor though I have not milled the ears down 2mm yet. Placement of wheel weight may need to be......creative.
Keep us updated on your progress. I accidently bought the XTS calipers instead of the ATS so I've been waiting until I have some time to figure it out.

My welds have a big break cut so i'm not too worried about getting them to fit with my wheels, I was worried about the rotor to caliper clearance. Do the calipers need clearance at all? or will the bolt on with lowrangers kit?

I'll update with more pictures once everything is bolted up. They should bolt right up with lowrangers kit but I am modifying the calipers instead since I have that capability.

My main concern is how far the pedal travel will be?

I want to get this kit but concerned if the rotors will be available in the future. Did you run into any hardware issues installing this kit. I heard myths in the Mustang (SN95) community that e-brake cable doesn't install properly because the mounting location is different. Is that true?

The only issue I had on parking brake cable was my relocation bracket bolt heads hit the cable. I swapped the bolts for button head bolts and the problem was solved.

The kit won't fit our irs cars unless you make your own caliper relocation brackets so be prepared for that. I paid around $200 shipped for the rotors from baer, you can buy the rotor and gt caliper relocation brackets for $235 shipped, it might be worth it to buy the kit and see if the gt caliper relocation brackets could be modded to fit the irs.

So if you have to make your own caliper bracket to make these rotors fit why not just go with the larger rear caliper?

Am I correct in assuming that you were concerned with the additional pedal travel?

Yes the reason for the Baer rear rotors was to prevent extra pedal travel of larger reae calipers.

@bmxr152 they should. I purchased them maybe about a month ago. I have not installed them. I was hoping to have them on by now. but it's looking like maybe by the end of summer I'll have them on and have an update.

Does anybody know what size master cylinder I would need if I go manual brakes setup with brembo/42mm combo? I may put a 460 in my F/Z.
