this shouldn't really be news to anyone...the system monitors have been around for years.

there is a series of tests you need to put the car through befre the readniness monitor goes away. From wwhat I have been told, 50 miles of driving both on back roads and on the highway takes care of them.

It sucks, but its true. I failed a couple years ago because I replaced the battery and didn't drive it enough to turn all the monitors on. This stuff is becoming a little silly. But if we owned cars that were 20 years old all we would have to pass is safety. Sit tight the standards are only going to get worse as years go on. Pretty soon you won't be able to change anything.

Exactly! What is worse for the world, a 4bbl big block with antique plates or a new car with rear O2s disabled? It's all about fines and revenue. The trick around here to avoid inspection entirely is antique plates.

I put my factory tune back in the car and drove around for a bunch of miles. Car then threw a P0171 & P0174, basically means I was running too lean. Friggin forgot about the Mafia, set the Mafia back to zero, reset the computer and need to drive the car some more. Hopefully this sets me back to good, setup an appt with MAC again and then get my sticker. What a PITA!

There is no exact method for resetting the sensors. I put a new battery in and drove around a few times. Never went on the highway and probably didn't put 50 miles on the car either. Went back to the inspection station and passed w/o issue.

I think its all a roll of the dice as to how much you need to drive prior to going back for inspection. There is no way to know for sure.

You can do or have done a system readiness test to verify that you don't have to many unsupported's. Just went through this myself in NH.

When it says Not Supported means something was turned off ..turn all monitors back on go to Mac center and should be all set ...i bought my car out of MD and HBH turned off all monitors (i didnt know) failed inspection , brought it to pete and re-tuned it turned everything back on went to MAC and passed ...

its not as bad as everyone talks about .

I just took my 2003 Cobra for a sticker today. I failed the emissions
test because I had about 3 "not ready" codes come up. I was asked
if I just had work done on the car or had taken the battery cables off
the car. I said no to both and I have only 20,000 miles on my Cobra
and I don't drive it a lot when I do drive it. Inspector said it probably
was the fact that I don't drive much and he gave me a rejection sticker
and said go drive the car for a couple of days and come back for another
inspection. I was concerned if my new tune caused the problem, but I
guess the car will pass with a custom SCT tune in it.

Same exact thing here. I'm afraid i won't pass again when i go back for re-inspection. Wondering if i should load my stock tune or get a revision from Pete.

Pete J. told me I need to re-install the stock Cobra tune and drive 300 miles
and then I can go for a sticker again. After I get my sticker, I can re-install
the SCT custom tune.

Update: Pete J. told me to re-install the stock tune, but it ran lousy with
that in there, and then he called me back and said take out the stock tune
and re-install the custom tune and disconnect the battery cable about 12
hours and then I need to drive about 300 miles and then I should be ready
to get my inspection re-test.

I had my GT500 tuned by Chris at MPE Racing.... SCT tune, pulley and CAI. He said it would pass emissions and it did no issues.

I took out my Cobra last night to put more miles on the drive cycle,
which was up to 732 miles after I came back after my run.
I plugged in my scan tool and I was very glad to see the EGR had
gone to ready status. Never thought it would take that long to fix.
Now I just need to get my CATALYST monitor to ready status.

NEW UPDATE: I was doing my drive cycle with my race tune and my
race maf. I drove 1014 miles and everything but my Catalyst monitor
were in ready status. This was a pain.
I now installed my factory stock tune and my factory maf and within 78 miles
6 monitors went ready, then the following night the Evap went ready.
Right now all I have left, at 165 miles, is my Egr monitor. I need to go out
and do a bit more driving to get that into ready status.
Running these two stock parts, I can not go into boost or WOT! I think the
maf is what made the big difference, not the tune. When everything is in
ready status, I can go back to the MAC inspector and then go get another
sticker. Later on, I can re-install my race parts again.

Does not sound like fun Ken..... Good Luck!
