Injectors + BAP + E85 + serious boost; why is it considered a no-no by so many people?

So work with me here as I’m not a tuner, don’t know the first thing about tuning and don’t want to pretend to know, but my car is “low” on power because of the 15 degrees of timing my car is seeing. Bob said he typically makes 900 at 15psi on a base Hellion/On3 TT Coyote on E85. So since I insisted on just 800, he left the boost at 15 and backed the timing down to 15 instead of the usual 18-20 I think it is.

That’s probably not something I can just change like that, and I wouldn’t even if I could. Haha

Gotcha. Didn’t know it was set at 15. Yeah... that’s low for e85 lol.

Good thing is, you can keep it there and simply turn up the boost if you so desired.

Again, not a tuner so I don’t know for sure, but I would assume more boost is more dangerous than just having the timing put in it. 20psi does sound really good though. LMAO

    Also, you’re a horrible influence.

    I answered the original
    OP builds s550 with turbo
    OP has turbo s550.
    OP want's attention
OP makes post with his car making good power
OP makes post on why his car is special
OP finds out why his car isnt special
OP still won't run his car at the track
    OP is OP

Wait, what are you even upset and carrying on about? My car isn’t special. In a sea of 1,000+ horsepower Coyotes, I make a meager 800hp. Lol

Edit: My main point was that I was told my car wouldn’t make past 700 on the dyno by big name tuners and keyboard warriors alike, much less make it 20K miles on the street with the power it has. I’m just happy with what I have and spreading the knowledge I found out first hand.

Some guys don't think you need to run DRs either but I think I will leave mine on.

You post that your car doesn't need a fuel system and makes xxx power which defies logic. I answered the question in your thread title already. No load provides plenty of fuel

And that’s cool, I appreciate your input. You’re actually pretty damn fast, so I’m all ears. I’m just saying that as long as it lives under the load it IS exposed to, I’m happy with that.

As others have stated, I think it has to do with adding an electrical component to overdrive other electrical components. I have not used a BAP for fuel pumps, but I have been using one for the ignition coils on my car for over 10 years. While my car is not daily driven, I am surprised that it is still working. **knock on wood**

If you aren't under load a lot, then you most likely aren't heating up the fuel pumps. This could be why you haven't had any problems. I think this is why my coils haven't failed.

There's no issue using a BAP long term.....there's been one on my car for a decade. But having said that, I would never fault someone for "overkilling" a fuel system, especially using ethanol. More head room on the duty cycles is hardly something to ridicule because your basic setup is managing at this point. Layers of insurance in the fuel system is a good investment when these motors are so expensive to rebuild after a starvation issue caused by a basic setup failing at the worst of possible moments.

I'll tell you what, my poor car has been beat to shit lately. I guess it's not a dig at the track type load, but Mexico is good for 40-140/60-160 runs this time of year. Lol

No, I would never fault someone for trying to do better. It's the same way people choose Precision turbos over On3 turbos or wastegates, etc.

TBH, Lund Racing will tune a 13-14 GT500 with a BAP and otherwise stock fuel system for E85 with the factory 2.3 TVS. I asked about them doing my 2011 with M122 and a 21V BAP and the reply was: We will only tune your car with ID 1300X and a full return system with e85 pumps. Also, wont tune Arizona Ethanol Flex Fuel

    ....

    Well, ok then...

After seeing the recent write up in MM&FF about using a GT350 fuel pump assembly for S550 and S197 cars and it supporting 1000 hp for $940, I don't know why anyone would mess with a BAP anymore.

I mean it is their name and reputation on the line so I can't exactly fault them for refusing to tune a setup they deem inadequate or whatever, I just hate knowing that if anything happens to Bob and I need a new tuner I'm on the hook for an upgrade that isn't necessarily needed. However...

This is a route that I'm considering if need be. I didn't know it was an option or how relatively inexpensive it was until the newest MM&FF since I haven't been keeping up on the Coyote fuel system game. But keep in mind my car was built (for lack of a better term) back in September of 2018, a full eight months before this most recent article.

No biggie though. I'm actively monitoring my fuel pump duty cycle and if it ever closes in on 85% (I think that's the number I've been told to watch for) I'll know I need more.

I did go through the parts list in the article in MM&FF and discovered that it wouldn't even be the $940 they listed in the article. I came up with about $775 searching for deals. That would leave room for aftermarket fuel rails and still be under $1000.

I understnd on their part. But how do they go from yeah, BAP on a Trinity and we'll tune you for E85. 11-12? Nah you need $4k in fuel system before we will tune you.

Asked about a 21V BAP and Ford 56lb injectors? Nope, still want $4k system. ...... ok then......

13/14 GT500 pumps and GT350 pumps are essentially the same thing. That's what the Sai li kit is.

Id just listen to who you're paying to. I paid my guy and he said no E85 without fuel system. I waited and found a great deal, Im happy. If your guy said you're ok then continue doing your thing. Id love to see the track numbers but Id settle for mexico vids of Coyotes laying the smack down.
