Looking for some direction for an injector choice for my build. Goal is 700-800 WHP on E85 for my 03 cobra build. I just got done building the motor. Teksid block fully studded with diamond 9:6:1 pistons .02 over, Factory rotting assembly with upgraded arp 2000 bolts. boundary 3v oil pump with billet gears, king main and rod bearings, reworked 9 thread heads/valves. multi angle valve job with bronze valve guides and higher seat pressure springs with 98 cobra cams. Vmp Gen3r with a 2.8 upper stock caged lower. Fore lvl2 return system with dual 465s. Will be on E85 and the stock computer. Any input is appreciated thank you.

ID1050X's seem pretty popular. But the FIC's are catching on too. I've used both and I think they're decent. But I'm no pro by any means. Though for 800 I think you'd want the 1300's for a little head room. It seems hit or miss on the 1050's being enough around there.

I run 1050X's on E85. I make 822 hp on 22 psi. My base fuel pressure is set to 40 lbs. I was making 785 hp on 80's but had to have my base pressure at 58 to keep the injectors going. So definitely go at least 1050's if not bigger.

OP, I have a similar build with slightly higher CR, custom Cams etc.

That's why I said hit or miss. Some seem fine while others are reaching the limits. It would be interesting to figure out why that is.

Thanks a lot guys for the response, this is exactly what I was looking for, some real world experience. I don’t really want to go more than 800. I’m sure I’ll be breaking plenty of stuff even at the number. Now I just need to make my mind up on ID or FIC. Thanks again guys.

ID1300X if you want some headroom. 1050X will be cutting it close on the upper end of your goals.

I’m really hoping I can just do the 1050x. Got a quote and the price difference is $650.

There is a good chance 1050's would work. However if it was me I would look at ID1300's or FIC1200's to save some money. I'm finishing up my current setup and I'm going with FIC1650's so I can keep a 40 psi base pressure and hopefully max out at like 70% duty cycle.

My last combo I ran FIC 1000's and hit max duty cycle running 58psi base pressure on 25 / 26 lbs of boost on a Whipple3.4. Hope that helps.

Hopefully I can atleast hit 750 if I go with the 1050x. My boost will be lower than your. Unless you have long tubes also.

Quick list of my mods. -5.22 dished pistons, 0.020 over, about 10.3 CR, custom cams, KB 2.8h blower, ported lower, twin 465 pumps, -10 f -8 r lines, 1050X’s, Bassani mids, x and CB.

18 lbs I made 744. Long story short, my bypass was hanging up on the rail and bleeding 6 psi of boost.

Before I went 1050’s, I made 785 on 80’s with a high Base Fuel Pressure. I see no reason you can’t make 750 on the 1050’s.

My buddy’s car made 750 @ 24lbs on 80’s with stock motor but the tuner turned it down, said that was risky and he wasn’t comfortable leaving it like that. Also with a high base pressure.

Friend of mine made 740rwhp with ID1050X's and twin 450 pumps. It's a Fore return system and he's on E85. The tuner didn't say he was nearing the top of anything. 40psi base pressure.

I have the same set up and run door to door with him, but I haven't seen a dyno yet.

I'd do the 1050X's if i started back over tbh. I'm on the FRPP 80lbs and while it WORKS, i'm about maxed out on my injectors on E85 and around 700whp. I could have used the extra headroom when I was getting tuned and would have made a bit more power considering where we left the timing.
