[QUOTE="limepro, post: 16339162, member: 45233"] This tweet is dumb, this thing could have played out in many other ways, some worse and some better. First, if the thieves bailed, that entire GPS on the truck does jack. If cops had stayed back when they got stuck in traffic, they could have jumped out and taken 1 of the vehicles near the front with a family and children in it. If the police followed from a distance, the criminals could have ditched the truck in a very crowded mall with people doing holiday shopping and many more hostages than what they had. If you watched the whole chase you would see that most of the streets were closed and cleared, highways at 4-5pm in SFL were empty because they were shut down but every time the cops would try to get near the 2-ton they would start shooting and a PIT maneuver would have done nothing. Attempts were made to keep people safe until it just wasn't feasible. This doesn't excuse the cops using occupied vehicles as cover but it could have been much worse than how it ended. These 2 guys went into a jewelry store in an area that is a block away from the police station, that has cops constantly on duty and began shooting. On that less than a mile strip of road, I bet if I go walk down it today there will be no less than 4 cop cars and a few on foot and not because it is a dangerous area, it is probably one of the safest in Miami for retail, these guys were unstable.
