[QUOTE="tracycali, post: 16071927, member: 192882"] ^^^This. In spades. One good example we have here in Kali is a little company called PG&E. They’re a utility monopoly that’s had a decades-long stranglehold on millions of people here. Perhaps you’ve heard of them. In 2010 one of their unmaintained gas mains blew up and destroyed San Bruno. In 2017 their unmaintained high voltage lines started a fire that burned down much of Napa and Santa Rosa. This year their unmaintained right of ways and power lines AGAIN burned down the town of Paradise. So, what is state governments response? Seek redress for the grieving, injured and displaced from this corporate cancer? Noooooo... the “Governor” of the state signed into law a ‘wildfire liability law’ that effectively absolves them of any liability in these events. PG&E also actively discourages and sabotages attempts by individuals to put solar energy electric panels on their homes, whining that said individuals then ‘get to use their transmission infrastructure for little or no cost’. They do this while cynically offering a ‘green energy’ program using electricity ostensibly generated by their own renewable infrastructure. Oh, and it only costs 50% MORE than that nasty ‘dirty energy’. I am an unapologetic free market capitalist, but if ever there was a case for breaking a monopoly this has to be it.
