Illinois is terrible for gun laws. I moved from Idaho to Illinois for a career change last year. You have to have a FOID (firearms owners ID) card just to touch a gun at a gun shop. That takes a few months to get from the state. God forbid you want a conceal carry license.

They were trying to pass state-wide bans a few months ago. High cap mags, 50 cal (pistol & rifle)....it's a mess.

Does the Constitution not override state law? I am not a constitutional lawyer, but I would have to think that the argument is there.

The Constitution is the law of the land. Any law created in opposition to it is null and void. I wish our judges and politicians would remember that.

I totally agree. I grew up in Oak Park right out side Chicago and you couldn't drag me back there.

The state with one of the highest murder rates per capita had the toughest gun control laws. That's illegal arms dealers favorite state. That should be proof that gun control doesn't work

Highland Park had this passed through Supreme court before.

Now, am not sure if Deerfield will be able to do this after 2013.

    Anything can happen.

Getting a FOID is not hard. Takes barely 30 days (ask me how I know) and costs $10.
CCW takes up to 6 months with an average of 90-120 days, sooner if you submit electronic fingerprints for an extra charge. Costs $150 per person.

    It takes a village!

This liberal conformity creeps in everywhere. What they don't want you to have, they'll pass laws against it. What the want you to do, they'll mandate it.

Not surprised this coming from a state that think it is our (Indiana) "lax" gun laws that is causing all the murders. Well, that's at least what BO said.
