August 29th - Sunday, Sunday, Sunday..........
For everyone who doesn't already know,
This Sunday, August the 29th is our next outing at Byron Dragway. (www.byrondragway.com)
For those who have not yet made one of these events, we usually have a very good time. The turnout is usually good (15-25 trucks). Everyone there tries to help each other out, especially the newcomers who have not yet tried to race their trucks.
For you new guys, a major point of interest is that we all share what we have done to make our trucks look and perform better.
You can check out the mods on our trucks and decide which to buy for yours.
This can save you many dollars when you decide to start modding. If you are not quite ready to race your new baby just yet, come out once anyway and just spectate to see what it is all about. We are a really friendly group.
As far as the racing itself goes, we run a bracket race, where slower trucks can compete with the faster ones.
The track provides us with our own race class(time trials and eliminations), we get our own dedicated staging lanes, and trophies (provided by the track) go to the winner and runner up. The cost is only $25 to race the event, which is the same as just test & tune. Make sure you tell them at the gate that you are there for the ILLNESS Lightning Club event (we get different tech cards).
Also, make sure to invite any other Lightning/ H-D truck owners you meet between now and then who may not see this post.
Special Note for you Harley guys, bring your land yachts out to see exactly how fast they can haul cheese and wine down the 1320. At the August 1st event we had 20 trucks, diasappointedly no H-D's. Same thing at our previous events. I see H-D's all of the time in the Elgin / St. Charles area, but usually they are being driven by old ladies. Didn't any of you buy your H-D because of its performance potential?
Looking forward to hopefully meeting some new people, and seeing everyone else again Sunday.
