depends on your insurance company, and how you have the vehicle insured. Most insurance companies will cover some modifications, my policy has $5000 worth of aftermarket coverage default on the policy (covers my American Forces and lift if it gets ****ed up) However, when my 1st mustang got totaled, I had to send in receipts for all the parts I put on it to get reimbursed, and the agent said they really shouldn't be doing it without having the modifications insured as part of the policy (so they get their money up front for covering the parts) Its best to be honest with your insurance company about the modifications and price you paid for them, if you want that peace of mind. Otherwise you roll the dice of them not being covered. That make sense, and answer your question? If you're asking if you can get the engine out if the car is totaled, no. The entire car belongs to insurance once they write you the check. You can buy the car back for parts off of it, but keep in mind what they paid you, they likely wont take less than that, after all its a business.
