I was leaving to go to work on my usual route and I decided to hit the gas alittle. Well, what happened after that took me by surprise, I lost control and went into a ditch, hit one of those metal poles that holds a route(118)sign. I got out of the car and looked at the damage and to my delight(if you can call it that after crashing your baby)only the front bumper was wrecked along with a blown front right tire. I will say that I had A LOT of people from the street come and check on me and actually direct traffic, help push my car down from the ditch( the rear right tire was about 2 ft off the ground) and call the police. Everyone, including the cop was very cool about the whole thing, I mean even the old woman who stopped along with her husband yeld at passerbyers for not yeilding. I was like " go grandma!". I can honestly say that I will never take risk doing ths ever again! Thats it! Thank god knowone was involved in this accident besides myself! Now my car is sitting at the bottom of my driveway waiting to be fixed again. I will be trading it in as soon as it is repaired, and im not too sure if I want that 2003 I orderd. This might be it for a while with fast cars. I'm leanig toward a Mercedes Benz CLK430 coupe or cabriolet. I know, I know that I shouldnt, but My mother never liked the fact that I got a fast car to begin with and if getting a MB would help her sleep better at night than by all means I will be getting a MB. Dont get me wrong, I'm a Mustang guy through and through, and will be one for life, but right now(I'll be 25 tommorrow, yikes!) I think the best thing would be to get something more soothing to my parents nerves, especially since my dad pays for insurance under his business. Like I said, I will(god willing) own more mustangs in my life, but I gotta do whats right, right know.

P.S. I'm sorry for posting so long, but I'm sure all you guys will understand what I'm going through, especially you guys I've been writing with for the past year. Thanks, Edin

I'm not sure I follow.

Your mom didn't want you to get a fast car but you did anyway. But after you wadded one up in a ditch you see where she is coming from? I'm not trying to sound mean or act like an asshole,I'm just trying to understand. I don't see the logic personally. It takes you wrecking up your car to see the light? Everyone knows that's a risk and it will be with a benz too. It will take less than a week before you regret not getting the Mach 1 you ordered. BUT it's your money. Buy what you want.

First of all, its a 2003 COBRA I ordered. I dont regret buying my cobra for a second, I've wanted one for along time. I didnt wait to wreck my car to see the light!,what kind of LOGIC is that!?!?!? I was contemplating getting a benz over the new cobra for awhile now. If you remember any of my earlier posts(which I'm sure you responded to) you'll see that I was contemplating the same then! And as far as it being a risk with a benz, NO SHIT!,its a risk with any car!,even a yugo! But the benz has a far superior stability program(ESP). which prevents it from losing control. Look man, I'm not an asshole by any means, I'm actually one of the good guys, so I'm just trying to make you understand. Nothings final yet as far as what I'm getting. I had a few cars in mind: 2002 ZO6, 2003 Cobra(which I have on order),and A new Benz. If I can get an AMG, then all my problems are cured, but they cost mucho dollars, just ask my dad(E55 AMG). I positively love the 2003 cobra, but I'm not 100% sure if I will be getting this vehicle anymore. Things might change, I'll let you guys know either way.

Take it down a notch padna. If you're one of the good guys and I'm driving the same car as you, then I must be a good guy to. I certainly never implied the mb was not a good car, from what I've gathered they're superior to my car in about every important category. I just can't relate to getting rid of a Cobra for a mercedes. If you want the added safety of a better traction system, get the vette. Then you'll have an either better car than the cobra and still have a sports car. Mercedes make awesome cars,it's just not the same kind of car as a Mustang or Corvette. I'm absolutely not trying to sway what you purchase, lord knows I hate it when that is done to me. You really don't think that if you bought the benz, you wouldn't be a little upset in a few months that you skipped a ZO6? I'm just trying to explain how I would feel. Buy whatever it is that you like the most though and sorry about your cobra. Hope you get it fixed soon.

you hurt your Cobra

Fangstang...

Did you hurt the Cobra or did the Cobra hurt itself by misbehaving? Whose fault was this error? Not being critical but initially it sounded as if the car malfunctioned?

p.s. I can understand wanting a MB AND the Cobra....but it would be very hard to choose between the 2 vehicles...

Actually, It was my fault. I shouldnt have turned the traction control off and spin the tires. I'll sell you the cobra, fixed, for $26,500. Less then 9,000 miles and 100% stock. White/parch. #203/3867 Will be mint again.

Mercedes vs Cobra

IMHO....you can get into just as much trouble in the Benz, especially an AMG, but your insurance rates MIGHT be lower. Most likely you learned a lesson from your off-road excursion and won't do it again soon but parental pressure I can understand...I still get it and I'm twice your age....It's easy for me to say this stuff but when I was your age I got what I wanted and paid to insure it myself. You are going to be doing it sometime and the earlier the better (of course my father STILL hasn't forgiven me..). I don't mean to sound patronizing but experience does teach you something...

I'm sorry, but a Benz is a old mans car. All the ones I see, including the AMG's are being driven by grey haired old farts and fartettes. Even the BMW's are driven by a younger group. And lest you think that I am just a kid. I am 55, and I am too young for a Benz. Why don't you get a rocking chair and a Buick instead. PS, a race drivers school wouldn't be a bad idea either.

26,500 seems a little steep for a wrecked Cobra. A perfect Cobra is worth $26,126. I would give you 24,000 flat for it. But then I would have to have 24,000 available to me. But I don't, I am having a hard time living with out my stang right now, and there is nothin I can do about it. I sold the 92 for a Dodge Ram (which I like, but is ain't a Stang). A beg my wife all the time to let me get a newer Cobra, but she keeps reminding me that we don't have any $$$. Well I guess I will suffer till I am about 50 to get another Mustang. (That is 25 more years!!!! D!Oh!)

Lets keep the personal attacks out of this, please!!! Difference of opinions are fine, but lets keep it at that.

Thanks, Brian

:rollseyes

Who really gives a damn how old the driver of these cars are? It's just a matter of taste and no current mb will ever be ass cool as a cobra. And you certainly won't convince anybody on a COBRA board otherwise. Just by the damn car and enjoy it. To hell with what these guys think. It's not their 40 or 50 g's.

Your right, no personal stuff here. Hope you sell your car to someone who's a Cobra nut. Have fun on the MB sites.
