I had my first laser eye surgery yesterday. I'm very happy so far.

I had cataracts in both eyes, so it was finally time to consider laser surgery. My wife had hers done over a month ago, and I had my right eye done yesterday. The actual operation was straightforward. I was awake the whole time. After the operation, vision in the right eye wasn't very good, but it was a new lens and you don't have perfect vision immediately after surgery. It was like I was looking through a grayish veil, and everything was blurry. I also had an irritation like grains of sand were under my eye lid. I decided to rest my eye and nap on our recliner. I essentially slept on and off from 2PM yesterday to 6AM this morning. Today, no more graininess, no grayish film, and my right eyesight throughout the day today has gotten better to the point where I can actually see my computer screen. Early this morning, I couldn't do that. If I covered my right eye with the new lens, I could see my screen well enough to use it but the right eye was blurry. Now, my vision is better than the left eye. So I'm anxious to get my left eye done next Monday.

I've noticed that with the new lens in my right eye that everything is brighter, colors are more real and crisp (purple is now purple and not grayish purple). If anyone is considering cateract surgery (traditional or laser), I definitely recommend it. Laser isn't cheap, but both my wife and I like how fast it is and no knife involved. LOL. Seems like most people nowadays go for laser.

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a blessed Christmas tomorrow with family and friends. It's all about Christ and His great gift to all. :)(y)

Good for you Bob. A good friend of mine had that done a few weeks ago and after a week of being really light sensitive he’s very happy as well.
Merry Christmas

Glad you surgery was a success.

My wife had both of her eyes done in the last 3 weeks. She seems to be getting along well. She of course opted for the “Ferrari” version of the various lens options. I shouldn’t complain cause I am sure I would do the same if it was me.

I'm just in year three if wearing glasses although a small RX. Eye lasers scare me. I am glad to hear yours is doing well.

Im not sure if they can do both eyes at the same time but I'd do one at a time.

I got lasik for vision correction 14 years ago. Went from 20/200 to 20/20 overnight. Am still 20/20 today. Was about a 20 minute procedure and I did the same; went home and slept for as long as I could. Amazing surgery.

Glad to hear. I’ve thought about getting lasik. But, after watching WhistlinDiesel post about his bad experience it kinda turned me off.

Congrats and merry Xmas to you.

Smelling your own eye burning under the laser is something, isn't it?

I chose a higher cost lens due to a stigmatism. So far, it looks like it was a good choice.

Thanks all for the well wishes. And to the funny pokes! LOL.

@Klaus, I was awake the whole time. No smell of burning eye. LOL. The experience was easier than going for a dentist cleaning actually. I got wheeled into the operating room, the surgeon started the procedure tell me to focus on the center of a disc of 6 lights, and less than a minute later....DONE. I think got a dozen saltines to eat and a container of apple juice. I'm anxious to get back there Monday and finish up.

Lasik surgery is very different from regular laser surgery for cataracts. Each helps to correct different eye conditions and issues. My cataract surgery corrects cataracts, (clouding of the lens in the eye), replacing it with a clear artificial lens. LASIK surgery corrects the way light is focused on the retina by reshaping the cornea. Its used to correct refractive errors like nearsightedness.
