I was able to get a 3D printer for Christmas, and of course, I printed the test figures that came pre-loaded on the SD card, just to get everything dialed in... But, the first thing I decided to create was a lightsaber of my own design, I borrowed a couple elements from Ki-Adi-Mundi's 'laser sword'. Let me know what you think, as this was my first go, and I think it turned out really well. I tried to give it an aged look. I mean it is a tool after all. This is composed of 13 separately printed pieces. I then painted it with an watered down acrylic in some areas, and left other areas raw. I tried to print everything in whatever color it was going to be. So if it is black I printed it in black...etc. I also tried to give the emitter tip an overheated look just to finish things off. The older I get, the more of a geek I become. Maybe it is my kids rubbing off on me.

Looks great! Did you use the included Creality included software for your slicer?

We have an Ender 5 that we just got at work and we've started playing with.

I am using the Cura slicer, and Meshmixer for the cad work. I have Autocad as well, but I haven't needed anything that powerful yet.

How did you print the appearance of heated metal? Does this printer blend colored filaments?

For that I used a bit of watered down acrylic paint... The old fashioned way. But you can get blended filaments.
