I discovered a Hydroboost leak. It is not brake fluid so Im assuming it’s power steering. As you can see in the picture, it is leaking from the bottom. The brake lines are dry and so are the powersteering lines.

Any ideas outside of just replacing it? Do you have to mess with the brakes at all when replacing?

Replace it, just leave the brake lines on and remove the master cylinder, then you can remove the hydraboost. You will need to bleed the power steering but not the brakes

I had to replace mine as it was leaking inside the car. The replacement was a Ford or Motorcraft unit from the dealer (rebuilt I think) but I am not sure if they are still available. I found it useful to remove the battery and the front wheel. Bungie cords are handy to keep everything out of the way. I also removed the driver seat for more working room.

I had a second leak from a hose going into the unit. It was very hard to see as it was just a small seep. I replaced two lines using Gates hoses from Rock Auto.

Related to replacing the hydroboost. My brake pedal has been hard for a few years now and I am thinking the hydroboost is no longer working properly. So l am looking for a new one to replace it.

When researching what is available, I noticed that the hydroboost assemblies that came on 03/04 Cobras have 427C cast into them while the ones that came on 99 to 04 GTs have 464A cast into them.

I can only seem to find refurbished ones which appear to have the 464A casting. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the 427C and 464A?

My ‘01 Bullitt came from the factory with the same brakes as the 03/04 cobra, The original master I took off has the same 464A number on it. I replaced it with another 464A. I am not know what that number represents. It may not have anything to the operation of the master
