How to remove body piece above windshield on convertible?

How do you remove the body piece that runs across the top of the windshield on a convertible?

I was hoping it was just a trim piece that was held on by some nuts on the underside, but I've taken off the top interior panel and poked around and it looks like it's one solid piece that might not be removable, or bonded or the windshield, or....?

For reference this is the piece I'm talking about

No thoughts? I just don't want to pull apart half the car only to find out it's welded/bonded in permanently

That is part of the frame of the windshield... It isn't going anywhere unless your cutting it out. I may be wrong but I think the reason for the gaps between the rest is for some flex.
