How to adjust clutch???

Can some one tell me how to adjust my clutch. My release piont seems really high. Also, when you first start to press in the clutch there is a half inch of loosness where there is no presure at all, like something came lose over time. Are there two seperate bolts for the adjustments. Please help. I think I'm burning my clutch up because the release piont is so high. Where do you adjust your clutch to. Thanks

Car off
Shifter in 1st gear
pull up on clutch pedal from underneath with your foot
press pedal to floor

You might hear clicks if it's loose enough when you do this.

Sorry, i'm not quite clear on this part. Is that a bad thing or good thing or neither. Thanks for the info.

clicks mean the cable is tightening... i use my hands to pull up on the clutch.. then press to floor
