I've had my GT500 for a few years. I think i want to sell it. I just don't drive it enough to justify the monthly payment. It's the one in my avatar a 2013 base model. I have the 13-6 kit and that's basically it for mods. The car has 9700 miles and is in really good condition. I know what KBB says but when i look online to compare other cars for sale it seems like everyone is asking more then book value. Should i be trying to sell for over book value also or whats the best price to list at?

Thought about trading mine off for a Hellcat A8 very recently. Some really good deals on them right now. Dealer offered me $45k for mine. SVT, PP, Electronics, 13-6 kit, Cortex Racing TA, Watts Link, and LCAs. 20k on the clock. I wasn't offended by the offer but I still didn't trade. Just wasn't enough to say goodbye to it I guess.

I second this. No real mods and only 10k miles. Was offered 46.5k. Didn't pull the trigger either.

47-48k. These cars are coming down in price even though we don't like it. Just reaility. There's a couple that sold with similar miles or less with a asking price of 48k. A dealer offering 46.5k is pretty surprising. Must of had a bunch of gross profit to work with on the car you you looking at.

This. Also cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would want an automatic muscle car.

Because they are quicker. :poke:

OP, the other's are right. Supply/Demand has really brought down the values of ALL GT500's down quite a bit in the last year.

There are better ways to get quicker that dont require ruining the driving experience. But to each their own and all that....

I'm 46 and driven sticks all my life. So, I understand what your sayin. Maybe I'm just thinking about migrating to something different in traffic these days. The Hellcat A8 with the paddles is pretty badass. It's not the auto your grandad had in the 60's...

I saw the poke :) Just furthering my point is all!

Agree, even paddle shifter Automatics annoy me. I'm older and grew up with manuals, anyone can race just sitting in an Auto. Takes the term "Racing" out of the equation, couldn't be further from it actually.

OP- I think a base model GT500 now will be tough to get $50K, more in the range of $48K if you want to move the car.

I find this auto vs manual very amusing. To me it is simply are you a driver or not. I know technology blah blah blah......Are you a driver or a rider? Heck my wife doesnt even want an auto as she loves drving.

Whats it worth is a complete who knows. I am amazed that a new Mustang GT Convdertible is $50k. I cannot fathom paying $40k for a minivan????? The real question is what is it worth to you?

Mic drop.

Yeah it's not as simple as "if you don't drive a manual you're not a real driver" philosophy. C'mon how childish is that? I'll be one of the first who states that while I enjoy driving a manual I also find it a PITA at times because of how my 3rd car garage is situated and that's where my Shelby and air tools/etc reside. It is significantly easier for me with an auto to pull it into the garage. In addition, I'm a drag racer at heart and used to race often with my "manual" TKO'ed cobra for many years. Quite frankly I got sick of replacing clutches and trying new combinations out as well as going through rear ends all because of the higher hp/tq effect on parts with manual car. Manuals are so much harder on parts when launching than an auto, not to mention less consistent.
I'm up in the air what to do if Ford offers a 10 speed auto in the new GT500; but I'm leaning towards that route over the manual for above reasons mentioned. Especially if I decide to return to track days.

That is why I said first off that this is very amusing, to me it is that simple. I would never own an automatic Mustang or Porsche. We have a F-150 for winter and trips, but I am going to be in the Shelby, Focus SVT or Boxster any chance I can and same for my wife (except for the Shelby, she thnks it is too big.) It is not my intention to hurt anyones feelings or to convice you that I am right and you are wrong. The pure please of driving on track or on some of my beautiful WV roads would be significantly diminished if I had an automatic. For me....it really is that simple. Back in the day, I had a 88 Coupe with a Vortech that I raced on the strip. Changed clutch several times, Tremec, axles, driveshaft and never once did I ever consider an automatic. I have been told I am wierd, and it did/does not bother me!

Well great for you, but it's still a childish statement to make that "real drivers" only drive stick. That's how you come across. And quite frankly, your idea of driving is different than many folks here. Not all of us limit our driving experience to cruising back roads in west virgina, but would prefer to visit the drag strip without having to worry about replacing the clutch due to putting a set of sticky tires on the car. And for the record, you're probably in the majority of owners here who have worked on their own cars, it's just that many of us don't have the time to spend laying under their cars all weekend and would rather drive them.
Bottom line, an auto is more appealing to some of us, like it or not.

After 4+ years and shy of 10K miles, I've also been thinking should I sell or hold. No mod's, no stories, no dings, dents or otherwise, so if values start to go up on the unmolested then it could work out for me. However, I don't really think I have the patience or want to store it, so besides trading to a stealer, can anyone suggest a good place to avoid tire-kickers?
