So the new 13 gt500 can do 200mph. Has anyone done 200 in their cobra? If so how much hp was needed. I would guess the terminator has a lower drag coefficent than the new car so it wouldn't need as much power. Anyone know?

Yes people have done well into the 200s in the Cobra. It is not only about HP but also gearing, tires, and suspension. I would think with the right gearing and the right setup and a long enough run you will not need a lot to hit 200. People are hitting 160 like cake walk.

Oh yea turn off the top speed regulator.

200 can't be to hard if you have he right gearing like Godspeed said. I have 600 Rwhp and I can hit 140 easy. I haven't taken her over that because she vibrates so damn much! But at that speed she's still pulling like a freight train!

when I was 100% stock it was easy to bounce off the speed governor.. the reason why SVT put it on the Terminator is around 185 mph, both the Cobra and a 747 have a habit of coming off the ground (which is why the 00 Cobra R comes with the front splitter and rear wing)

taking that into account (the 00 Cobra R) with around 350 hp to the ground (that's an average) which is less than the Terminators, they would do 175 without the splitter and wing, 170 with them....

I'd say that your average bolt on (tune, pulley, CAI and catback) Terminator would be close to 200 mph. I know for a C5 Corvette 500 hp at the flywheel lets them do right about 200 mph..

I went to the National Mustang Club car show at Barber Motorsports (Leeds, Al.) a few years back. The was a black 03 there with a Texas mile certificate of around 208 mph. He had a Whipple 3.4 and supporting fuel mods on a stock motor. Not sure on the hp but it can certainly be done.

i am going for 200mph in the standing mile this year, will be switching my street gear so 3.73 to a much higher gear for sure. I want to make a run with stock aero, then change it onsite for a comparison. I haven't dynoed yet but so far should be around 8xx on pump and meth.

The modded Terminator engine should have no problem hitting the 200 mark. Its the aerodynamics of the chassis where things will get "interesting". The car starts to get weird after 160. Lowering the chassis, sealing the air dam to the asphalt better and a rear wing would be prudent.

When I saw the heading I thought you were talking 1/4 mile to which I would have said 200k for a complete set up lol.

That last line made me laugh lol. The GF's always do that. Single ftw lol. Did you have a gps to read your speed? With that much power how long did it take?

ill put my flamesuit on making this comment but here goes

i was racing a buddy who has a 6.0 gto and they're gauges read up to 200mph, and i was in front of him when he said we stopped his gauge was at 180. a 40 to 140 pass take about 19 seconds for me so if i had to guestimate id say somewhere in the 35-45 second range to get up that high:shrug:

I'm afraid to even try with the stock gears. I melted a hole through my number 7 and I had the head cooling mod. Better make sure your fuel is good the whole time.

Getting to 175-180 is the easy part.

It will probably take as long to go the next 25 as it did the first 175.

Aero is just as important as the HP.

And remember, you only have 1 mile to do it in.
