Now that we know for sure that the 2015 Mustang will be taking center stage at the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebrations in LasVegas and Charlotte, it is time to get planning for your travels to the show. The hotels are filling up quickly, and MCA reports that the registrations for the show are very good, well past previous anniversaries.

How are you planning to get to the show? Vote in the poll above, and add any comments or questions below.

As a reminder, here are some pointers for reservations and info.

I am taking off work that week to go there. Should get in Tuesday night and leave Sunday. This should be a big event. This Saturday heading up to Toronto for the autoshow. There is a new Mustang there plus a lot of concept cars. Mitch

There has been quite a bit of confusion about the various registrations that are available on the way to the Mustang 50th. I wanted to make sure that those of you traveling to Norman,OK or meeting up with one of the two MCA Pony Drives leaving Norman are aware of these other registrations and have a chance to get registered before the deadline on March 15.

For those wishing to join a Pony Drive from home to Norman, OK for the two day pre-party you can register with the GAPD Pony Drive here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1trs...rBxbA/viewform
Here is the map for the 7 GAPD Pony Drives to Norman, OK
http://www.ponydrive.us/data/uploads/home/routemap.jpg

Once you get to Norman, there are two events at least that you may want to attend. One is a Meet & Greet Party on the Friday and the other is a banquet on the Saturday. There are also two track events.
You can register for any of these here: 50th Mustang Birthday .

After leaving Norman, you will be in one of the MCA Pony Drives to either LasVegas or Charlotte. You also need to register for the appropriate MCA Pony Drive here:
Pony Drive Registration
On this same page, you can also register for other activities once you get to your target Celebration.

Even if you are not joining any of the Pony Drives, you should check out this website for the other activities.

The $50/car charge for the MCA Pony Drives from Norman to the Celebrations will probably save you more than that amount in food and motel costs, plus provide you with access to certain activities as well as a goodie bag. You don't want to miss this registration.

Once you get to your target destination, you and your Mustang need to be registered for that Celebration for daily access to the show, and to be able to park your Mustang next to the track. Otherwise you will need to pay daily access and park your car in general parking. You will want to be sure to register here:
http://www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebr...istration.html for Charlotte or here: http://www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebr...istration.html for LasVegas.

I hope this clarifies any previous confusion and will help ensure you will have the best possible time getting to and getting the maximum enjoyment out of the Mustang 50th Celebrations.

The poll above does not show it, but there is lots of enthusiasm building for the Pony Drives to Norman,OK, LasVegas,NV, and Charlotte, NC.

We have several dozen people registered from far away places like New Zealand, Australia, Germany, France, and the UK, as well as Canada and Alaska all planning to join one or the other of the Pony Drives to the big party.

We have people driving from the east coast of Canada and the US out to Norman and then to Las Vegas or back to Charlotte, people from the west coast of Canada going to Norman, and then Vegas, people flying into Florida, renting a car and driving to Norman then back east to Charlotte, another fellow crossing the US twice to participate in all the parties, and approximately 600 cars currently registered to join some part of a caravan to the Celebration. And we still have a little over a month to go.

This is going to be big!

I put in a request to the MCA organizers for the Guinness World Record Attempt to ask their Ford contacts to bring a 2016 Mustang GT350 (even though it would be camoed), to lead the record setting parade from Concord to Kannapolis. I will post the answer here as soon as I get it.

Any bets?

The 7 minute drive to the Charlotte Speedway might be too much for me to deal with.

If my father and I would attend as spectators only, without entering a car ...would we still have to register or just show up and buy passes at the gate the day of?

Pretty sure you can buy tickets the day of. Charlotte Motor Speedway isn't going to turn down money!

My SVO is under the knife, but since I live in Vegas I'll just hop in my truck and head over the LVMS and drool over the new Mustang. :)
